DX7 Mode 2 set up query from a newbie

Question for all you boffs out there - I have a mode 2 DX7.In setting up the heli, when I set up the rudder (left gimble), with the heli tail in and I move the gimble to the left (9 o clock position), which direction should the rudder turn - to the left or right? Likewise with the aileron, if the right gimble is turned to the 9 o clock position, in which direction would the heli turn. :arggg:

For the aileron the heli tilts in the direction you move the stick (looking from behind the heli). So moving the stick to the left should make the heli tilt/roll left.

As for the tail, that is personal preference. AFAIK, most people fly the nose, stick left, nose moves left. But somepeople do fly the tail, stick left means tail moves to the left. I came from full scale so flying the tail makes NO sense to me. :)

the usual set up for the tail/rudder is with the tail rotor on the right side of the boom, rotating counter clockwise so the blades cut into the rotor wash for faster responce, moving stick right which is nose right, turns the blades to the left, leading edge towards the tail boom.
