I have a Jazz 80-6-18 in my Logo. Powering the receiver is a 5A Hercules BEC. Is there any reason why I can't be using the Jazz internal BEC at the same time as the Hercules, for redundancy?
Thanks,
Jesper

If you want to use both for redundancy, then you need to add diodes on both power source so one does not bring down the other.

Do I need the diods? In the manual they say that the internal BEC can be used along with a regular rx pack, they don't mention installing any diods. Any reason why it would be different with an external BEC?
Thanks,
Jesper

The output of the two BECs is different, therefore you certainly should not run the two in parralel. If you are bent on wanting two BEC, then disable the 80-6-18 one and install a second WR one with same output voltage.

Well, I'm not bent on having two. But since I am allready flying around with two, I thought it would be nice with the added redundancy. Right now the internal BEC is U/S because I have the read lead disconnected. If the external BEC would fail, I would loose the helicopter. Maybe diods are not a bad idea....

I thought Tom & Max (Voodoo on this forum) from Helistore.at are using the kontronic internal BEC and a external backup battery with a Emcotec DPSI RV between on their LOGO5003D.
Maybe they know what's needed?
