Is there any way to increase the volume of the countdown timer alarm volume .
I sometimes fly at an indoor venue ( Velodrome or cycle racing hall ) With quite a few chaps flying simultaneously ( mostly hovering and mild sports flying) and I sometimes cannot hear the alarm going off above the din of all the electric motors

no advice out there? What about connecting a piezo busser to the internal 'peeper" ?

Try a lipo monitor. You can set the voltage warning & the led lights are bright enough to see outside in the daylight. You won't have to worry if you started your timer or not, they warn you when your batteries get to your preset voltage. Kind of a double safety. This is the monitor I use & am very happy with it's performance. http://efliernz.googlepages.com/home
