Hi all;
I finally bought a heli.... it's a submicro for house flying (oops forgot to tell the wife about that part) :wink:

Its a Heli-Max rotofly (see avatar)... kinda cool, after many hours trying and hitting everything in the living room, I was sent to the garage.. I can get a semi controlled hover... I believe that the gyro adjustment needs some serious work.... but I tell ya after that first hover I was hooked.... and I'm looking for a larger heli.... I want to stay with electric for now and maybe build my way up to a nitro :glasses:

I have been looking around this board and have found some really great stuff .... I look forward posting and reading and possibly meet some great people.

Actually its the otherway around.
You are better off starting with a 30 or 50 size nitro and working your way up to an electric.
The LiPo batteries used in an electric are very expensive and do not like being pounded into the ground, where except for very rare cases an engine could care less about impact. The rest of the heli will sustain the same damage wether Nitro or electric.

Thanks for the input that makes a good point.... If going nitro is a better way to go..... What type of semi (If any) starter heli would be good to try... what brand would have lots of parts that are available...... I realize there are alot of choices.... LOTS of choices!!!!!! :)

The best option is fly what the other flyers in your area are flying. That way you will have the maximum available local support.
If there is not local talent, you can not go wrong with a raptor 30 or 50.

For a heli I would recommend a 50 size right off the bat.
By the time you are done breaking in the engine / learning to hover you may be glad that the extra power is available, saves another upgrade.

Being a field rep of course I must point out some of the differences between a raptor and a Stinger.
The Gohbee Stinger is a Raptor clone. Most of the parts below the swash are interchangeable between a raptor and a Stinger. The Stinger kit and parts are approximately 2/3 of the cost of the same Raptor part, and you can use a Field Rep Code to get a discount on that.
Gohbee also now has packages with OS engines and 401/9254 gyros that are very nicely priced.
The Stinger head design is more stable in a hover and fast forward flight. Yet when you are ready the cyclic can be cranked up to faster than my R50 SE.
