A friends' kid asked me about this:
http://www.raidentech.com/newbe63dz4dr.html?gclid=CPy0_b_Dw5ECFSFaagodRUS7DQ

Anybody ever seen or played with one? I can't say that it gives me the warm fuzzies just by looking at those pictures, but it sure is cheap for an entry level bird.

By the way, don' t those pics (near the bottom of the page) of it in flight look like somebody is holding it up in the air to take the photos?

Looks like a rebadged Walkera.Cheap is an appropriate adjective. Not likely to be a good choice, especially for a beginner/learner. It has a brushed motor and may or may not be able to fly. I have seen similar brushed Walkera helis that could barely get off the ground.

None of the photos look like real in-flight shots.

I am certain that over a six month period the Blade400 plus Phoenix sim together would cost less in total than that heli and that's including spares to repair the B400 after the inevitable crashes.

...I've tried to convey the expense involved in this hobby without crushing the little guy's heart. He works his butt off doing crappy yard cleanup duties that his neighbors don't want to do, but I think his neighbors are cheap and lazy anyway, so he's not making much money. It's a good lesson in the value of the dollar and a hard day's work...

It's a Walkera 36. If you enjoy suffering through countless electrical issues and motor burnouts, buy Walkera...

Maybe he could go for a Heli-Pro Blackhawk 450 which comes with brushless motor, brushless speed control, WFLY 6 channel radio, 2200 mah lipo battery with charger, and head hold gyro for $239.99. I just ordered one to move up from Helimax axe cp. Heard blackhawk 450 pretty fast and radio decent and decent gyro. I bet its 50% better then a walkera and alot bigger. This is the link i'm talking about.

This link is all their heli they have on stock.

And this one with their canopy on.

These videos he is using a se edition of 450
and a different gyro. But nothing wrong with
old gyro just he has experience and wants to
do more to it. Also here are some pics.

I must received mine and it flies bad ass man. Battery it comes with last 15 minute??
Comes with brushless motor too, well basically everything you need to fly it. Yup
its awsome, but i have the one that is all plastic parts, except body is fiberglas but
it fly smooth as a baby butt. LOL  Gyro and radio is decent too. I'll post mine
and its going for 239.99. Its a helipro but distribution is key-tech but ka-planes
tweaks it before it is shipped. So I just love mine, once i get better i would do 3d
without mod. I ordered from mike from ka planes on friday, it was shipped on sat
and received it on monday. WOWser. Oh did I say it is easy to hover and hands
off hovering for few second?

I'll post pic once I find my cam.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6314320/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm

Here are list of Helipro black hawk kits and arf, and also rtf. Click the
link to view. I have the black hawk 450, the black hawk 450 se is better
because its all metal head and tail. But like i said mine is the bomb.
Better then any esky product anyways.

I just recorded a vid flying in my small condo. My living room has no room, and I can
feel all the wind that my blade is producing but here it goes. And guys don't fly a 450
in a living room. As you can see i was scared at the last seconds of the vid, didn't wanted to hit whats around me. So here it is, hopefully i'll show more vids when bat weather
leave.

I bought one of these back in sept of 07 "my first heli" I had to put a Lipo in it to get it off the ground, mine came with a NIckel Metal Bat. Once It lifted off it was stable for about 30 seconds then the tail let loose and crashed. The next day I went out to try and find parts and realized what a POS it was and bought a Trex 450 that day and sold the G2 on EBAY for 45 dollars. Don't buy one they are Junk......

I Own the Raptor G2. Got it for Christmas. It's really not all that bad. Yes there are much better out there, but mine did fly without problems right out of the box. Very touchy due to the cheap radio. I invested in a Spectrum Dx6i for it. I have crashed it several times learning how to fly it, any the only real problem has been getting parts at times. I live in Mass & NO ONE sells these things local so EVERYTHING is mail ordered. That adds COST to repairs due to shipping. My buddy has a Blade 400 nice bird I would recommend that one over the Raptor only due to support & parts being easier to obtain.

I also got a raptor G2 and i got to say its ok but its not with out major pains. and earlier mentioned the electronics are junk so i put 3 jr DS285 servos for the pitch, aileron, elevator and i put a DS3400g for the tail. so the gyro also went haywire :arggg: so i used a cheap eflight unit. the kit came with a lipo batt but a brushed motor, so i opted for the brushless motor. anyway the brushless motor turned out to be an out runner motor and rubbed the battery taking that out of commission.:bomb: got to say i fix it more than i fly it. but i refuse to give up on it. sooooo i got a t rex 600gf :YeaBaby: and a dx7 radio system so i also put an ar6100 rx and now it flies pretty dam good i must say with all that changed out and countless $$$:DOHit flys good. soo the other day i was happy flying the thing and a wind gust got it and put it into a palm tree, so i need more parts which also have a hard tim finding here . well heres the good news the palm tree lost a branch due to the crash.

so my last words are the raptor G2(walker #36) doesnt go down with out a fight.

parts r cheap:thumbup:

So, back to the first post. His dad talked to me more about it and I convinced him that his son should try to get a T-Rex 450, since that's where my knowledge base is and I can help him out with it. He agreed and talked his son into saving his money for a little longer to get a better known heli. What his son doesn't know is that his parents have since bought him a TR450 SE V2 kit for his birthday later this month. It is one of those kits that don't have the motor/esc or blades. I told them I would give him one of my spare motor/esc kits and a pair of Align Pro 335's for his birthday to go with it. Then he can use the money he saved to buy the LiPo's and servos, etc. He may have to borrow one of my transmitters at first, but I'm OK with that. Problem solved

Thanks to all you HeliFreaks for giving me the advice and information I needed to talk his parents into not letting him buy a sub-par kit. :noteworthy
