View Full Version : Please help on GYRO set up on 7C 2.4Ghz
I am new to Heli Asian guy who confuse about Futaba 7C, please help.
Helicopter mode
On the SW-E (Normal, Idle 1, Idle 2)
When I flip switch \--
(holding the transmitter parralel to the ground
tip of the switch point to the SKY)
the arrow go to
GYRO (SW-E)
UP>A 80%
CT>A 70%
DN>N 70% <-- this one
Does it mean UP?
When I flip switch /--
(holding the transmitter parralel to the ground
tip of the switch point to the GROUND)
the arrow go to
GYRO (SW-E)
UP>A 80% <-- this one
CT>A 70%
DN>N 70%
Does it mean DOWN?
Which one is NORMAL mode?
I have the Futaba 401 Gyro
and try to figure out how to set up for hover and a little forward flight
in the Normal and AVCS mode.
Please help.
Thanks in Advance.

UP CTR and DN are the three positions of the switch.
Up
Center
Down
Where the arrow is pointing is where you have that switch, so if in normal mode (switch away from you) the radio considers this to be the up position of the switch. Tilt the top of the transmitter towards you and it will all make sense.
Normal is UP Idle 1 is CTR and Idle 2 is DN
Thank you very much Andy.
I use my thumb and the index finger
to hold the Rud and the Ail stick.
So the top of the transmitter tilt away from me
at least 45 degree. When I flip the switch away from me
I'm feel like the switch is DOWN position, anyway.
Another CONFUSE,
when I try to do (Rudder neutral position adjustment)
as the 401 manual said
"Set the TX gyro sensitivity to the AVCS position.
(I flip SW-E to CENTER) First, turn on TX power,
turn on the gyro power,..... if the monitor LED lights
the gyro is operating in the AVCS mode.
(What happened was the LED lights blink rapidly and stay ON.)
(Manual) Switch the TX gyro sensitive switch to NORMAL position.
At this time, the monitor LED goes OFF."
I flip switch AWAY from me, the LED still ON,
I flip switch TOWARDS to me, the LED goes OFF.
Thanks in advance

First understand something.
Normal mode in the gyro is really rate mode. This is not to be confused with Normal flight mode.
A80 means AVCS (heading hold) mode with 80 percent gain (way too much you need closer to 50 to 65)
The light on means its in AVCS mode, the light off means its in rate mode, idle up 2, which you have to N 70 is 70 percent gain in normal (rate) mode, not normal flight mode.
I think you're getting your normals mixed up.
Honestly set them all to AVC 50 or 60 and don't worry about it.
Thank you very very much again Andy
I really apriciate.
It really hard for me to READ and UNDERSTAND.
The input I put in A80 was follow the sample of 7C-2.4GHz Manual.
And for now, from my understood,
I just flip switch away form me when I want to fly (Hover),
the light on or off doesn't matter.
Is this right?
And when I hover at half stick,
I have to push rudder stick to the right to make the tail point towards me.
I think I need to trim the rudder, is this right?
Thanks in advance again
