I'm in the process of getting a 500 size heli and plan on using 5s packs for now then moving up to 6s packs.I also might want to use 2 3s packs since I have quite a few.
I was considering these chargers and would appricciate any input on them.

You may also want to look at the E-Station BC-6 or BC-8.

Add the Hyperion EOS 1210i with 2x LBA 10 balancers to the list......... just something to look at.

I was looking at the Hyperion EOS 1210i with 2x LBA 10 balancers and it seems really good. I already have a lba6 5s would I be able to use that?

I don't believe so, I don't think the LBA 6's can be Networked. The LBA 10 can be networked together to charge two packs at the same time and up to 12s. 6s per balancer.

Well....I just picked up a tp1010 after reading all the hoopla and find myself a little perturbed. After spending $189.99, I get home, find I have to make/buy a charging cable from the charger to the batteries, AND also another $29.99 for a USB attachment so I can upgrade the software to the current version. (or send it in to upgrade for free (postage and insurance?) Since it isn't out of the box....it's going back and I start the search again.
I'm a great believer in value for the money and I hate spending a ton of money for 75% of a product.

Don't forget another $80 or so for the balancer. :)
Every charger I've purchased in the past two year has required me to make charging cables for my packs. Manufacturers don't know what connector any individual will use on their packs and there's no "standard".
You don't NEED to upgrade the firmware on the 1010 - sure it adds some new features, but I ran one on 2.0 code for quite a while. I'd be willing to bet that if you went to a club one weekend, someone there would update your firmware for you.

The BC6 is only 50W, not enough power for 6S

is it true the Hyperion EOS 1210i is not software upgradeable?
the way that lipos are changing is this a bad thing?
how about the Hyperion 0610i Duo charger is that upgradeable?
man so many choices i'm confused

It's my understanding the EOS 1210i is not field upgradable, according to an online vendor. I don't know if it's a bad thing or not, it seems to charge anything I throw at it, I don't see it as a problem. Does Lipos, Nis and A123.
I am not sure about the DUO , maybe someone else knows, but I did read something lately about............. Just found it.
"PC Port for Data Logging and Firmware Upgrades"
So, the DUO is upgradable and has two built in lba 10 balancers, but it says it only does 1-6 cells..... Not sure if that is the whole unit or each balancer.

The duo has 2 charging ports with a balancer built into each port. Each port can charge up to 6 cells with 180w max. 180w x 2 ports= 360w. You can also balance charge 2 batts at the same time if combining for 1 pack...example 2x3s to make a 6s batt. Very nice charger

sounds good i've been researching this and I like it. one thing I don't like is that it doesn't discharge (say for like storage) I wonder if they could add discharging in the software?

Yes this is one thing that appears to be a miss with this charger. I does however allow you to set to what capacity of the battery you want to charge to by %.

No, the hardware is not there at all. That is how they keep the cost down.
Another thing many people do not realize when the get the Duo, power supply requirements. You cannot get 180 watts per port with a 12V power source, you need closer to 24V.
I have already had 2 customers return their Duo's. One did not realize that it did not have discharge ability and the second returned it when he saw the costs of a 30 amp 24V power supply.
