T12/14z Pot encoders ?

I have witnessed a number of pot issues on the T14Mz. I hear that Futaba found that ‘the original ones did not hold up’ and they now have a newer more robust pot.

On questioning Futaba service I got this reply: 'The 12Z uses the exact, same stick assembly as the 14MZ. Earlier production runs had the same encoder, so some 12Z transmitters may have glitches due to a worn stick encoder. You can tell just by looking. The old encoders are blue, and the new ones are white.'

Could someone post a photo of the T12/14 encoders so that I can see what I am looking for ?

Thanks

You are looking for modified MuRata potentiometers originally designed for angle sensing etc. It is about trimmer sized, and otherwise identical to SV01A, but being only 2kohm (if I remember correctly) and with reduced angle. It does rotate all the way, but the ends have no effect so the effective angle is more narrow and closer to stick movement range on the newer type pot. This makes for a better resolution in the produced voltage range.

I have a 14MZ (bought april 2005) with the older type potentiometers. These are about 5kohm and the angle of effect is similar to SV01A (10kohm).

The reason I know this is because I first ordered replacement parts from Robbe/Futaba but returned them because of the price being something crazy (20€ each......) Now I am planning to replace the original pots with the SV01A type. I am having some minor wear effects now after about 800 flights with the transmitter so I guess these should do for a quite a long time. And a pot usually goes bad slowly so there is no great risk of loosing a plane etc.

Has anyone of you replaced the pots? I just wonder if there is something special with it I should know about before trying..? Any picture guidance to show?

Which potentiometer I can use on my 9Z WCII?

Cheers,

I sent my TX in for annual maintenance, and they replaced the following:
HSP11005 71-CRCW04023301FT 3.3K OHM RES 4
HSP79438 2M41A05802 ST-52 STICK ENCODER 4

So I guess they replaced my older ones with newer ones?
