Hi guys,
I have just started building my new stratus, and I need some help right at the outset!
I am looking for the right way to secure an OS 91SZH pumped engine to the main motor base plate.
The kit I have came with the OS SZH main motor base plate, and this base plate looks like it has been ground down slightly in a circular pattern where the engine sits. There is also a carbon fibre shim. (sorry for not posting pics, but I'll do that later if necessary)
I think what I need to do after balancing and attaching the fan is the following:
- remove the pump (which is connected to the back plate of the engine with an "X" shaped piece of carbon fibre). At the same time, disconnect the clear plastic tube that connects the pump to the backplate.
- place the engine (the metal part of the engine back plate) directly on the motor base plate WITHOUT using the shim (in other words, throw the shim out or keep it as a spare part).
- before bolting the engine to the base plate, cut a new piece of tubing about 1/8" longer than the old piece and then reconnect the pump and place it on the bottom of the carbon fibre base plate.
- Then, put the bolts through the "X" shaped carbon fibre piece on the pump, through the motor base place, and into the engine itself and secure it.
- So...at the end, the pump and its "X" shaped carbon fibre piece sit on the bottom of the motor base plate, rather than between the base plate and the engine.
Does this sound right?
Any guidance is greatly appreciated as I'll know later on in the build if I did it wrong, but it would be nice to do it right the first time.
