can anyone using a raptor 50, provide some links or info on a metal cooling fan assembly upgrade?
and what clutch parts do you recommend?
is the stock good? or should i use a heavy duty?

I wouldn't buy a metal fan as they have no advantage over the standard plastic Raptor fans, they dont give any extra cooling and usually come way off balance. That's just my personal opinion, I think the plastic Raptor fan is more then good enough for the job.
The standard clutch is fine and will work well, I would use the standard clutch until it wears or brakes, then I would upgrade to the heavy duty clutch as they last a lot longer. I am currently using a heavy duty clutch in my Rappy 50 now. :)
PS. If you still wish to get a metal fan then you can find them here - http://www.quickuk.co.uk/acatalog/Product_Sections_subRaptor3050_32.html

Nigel is correct, there is no need for a metal fan on a R50. If you have a V2 50 you will have no problem with the stock clutch. The V1 stock Raptor clutch isn't very good and a heavy duty clutch is recommended.

Hey capebob, I was checking out your gallery the other day, love the paint job on that Fury Extreme, purple with yellow flames  . I am looking for something similar for my Fury canopy. :)

Nigel,
I would like to be able to tell you that I painted that canopy, but alas I can't.

I just got the engine for my raptor 50. I am installing an OS 50 SX-H but right away ran into a problem. Supposedly I need to remove the thrust plate that came with the engine and install the fan right up next to the shaft bearing (right?). On the crankshaft is a key for the thrust plate and the fan will not go down over that. So far I have not found anything on raptortechnique on how to remedy this. any suggestions?

LynyrdSkynyrd,
Nothing goes between the front bearing and the fan. The base of the fan is properly shaped to ride properly on the bearing. The woodruff key is not used. If a washer is used between the engine and the fan the clutch will contact the the top of the clutch bell and possibly cause clutch bell failure. I've seen it happen, it's not a good thing. :)

I got that part - what I am curious about is on the actual crankshaft is a key or tooth. I can't get the washer off because of it and the fan will not screw on past it. Since the key is actually part of the crankshaft (i.e. machined as part of it) how in the world do you fit the fan body over that?

The thrust hub on the crank shaft of the engine should pull right off. Once it is off you can then take the woodruff key out of the slot in the crankshaft.
Now your ready to install the fan onto the crankshaft.
