View Full Version : JR DS8900G Too heavy?

Hi,
I just got myself a JR G770T together with the DS8900G. I noticed that the servo is a bit heavier that the 9257 which I initially intended to use. Will that cause a Tail heavy Heli and also, the servo being a standard size servo, will that impact my flight time?

Also, is the Align 6S 25C 2500 battery adequate or are there puffing up issues with them?
:dontknow
Thanks for the input.

I'm running the 8900 servo but have packs that are around the 450g mark to balance it out. Eg, Maxamps 3000HV (460g). Don't know about flight time but i guess this servo will not be very stressed in the 500.

It balances fine but depends on packs used and placement of components, as it will to some extent with any servo. I have my ESC under the battery tray and balance is right on with the Protek 5S 4000. I also had perfect balance with the FP 6S 2500 using same locaitons of components but with the battery fowared on the tray.

I dont know how much the weight difference impacts flight time but I would say not enough to really think about. The holding power of this combo is outstanding.

As Finless pointed out, when you mount the gyro keep it away from the bearing in the boom block. So mount it more towards the back edge of the block. Like in the photo of mine, the gyro is ok but I could have come back to the edge to get maximum distance away from the bearing.

Also I used the included 500 servo mount. I just used a dremel and enlarged the opening, after tracing out what size it needed to be.

Ok,
Great to hear it will work fine in the heli. Now comes the next problem, the Carbon fibre tray supplied by Align is too small to fit the servo in. Do I need to get the ones from the TREX 600? Or did you guys do a DIY mod for it.

Cheers

If you sand a bit of material off the 600 carbon tray it will bolt right up to the 500 boom mounts.

I use that combo and am quite happy with it. It's rock solid.

I'm using the 6100T/G combo on my T500 and it balances fine and I'm using (2) AT 3s packs. Here is the pic of the full servo mounted by a T600 servo mount.. I cut the tabs a little bit to make it fit..

Thanks for the info and cutting "a bit" seems to be the right word.. Hehehe. Will get working on that.

Cheers

Get the T600 rudder servo mount (http://www.readyheli.com/H60041_Rudder_Servo_Mount_TREX_600_p/h60041.htm), and you won't have to do any mods to fit the 8900G.
It fits perfectly, and won't possibly sacrifice the integrity of the bracket or the servo.

I also use FP 6S 2500mah, and can achieve perfect CG by mounting the lipos forward.
