Well it's not even on the Align Taiwan site yet and when it shows up there it is usually in the US in 2 weeks. Thus it looks like another month probably. I was at Assurance yesterday and no status there either.

From what I have heard they are having trouble getting gears that will hold up. Due to the small areas they have to fit gears in they are so small and are too weak at this point. the people I have talked to are unsure if it will ever work. just what I have heard though!

Yep... this is the issue holding it up. Personally I think they should go to metal gears like the Vibe 90 instead of plastic. It would mean we have to pack grease in the tail case but so what?

Yep, metal/brass gears at the front and plastic gears at the back would work.

Oh man are you kidding me? Weak gears? THAT'S what's holding this up? Have Align call HPI and ask them what they use in their Micro RS4's. These suckers are about a quarter of an inch in diameter PLASTIC and withstand 8000kv motors and repeated 0-full throttle romps with no trouble. Excuses excuses!
You've seen the J.G. Wentworth commercials?
IT'S MY TORQUE TUBE AND I WANT IT NOW!!!!!

Just when I thought there would be a safe/reliable solution for the tail static. I guess when it comes out, I'll have to wait another month before buying to see if the torque tube doesn't fall apart in flight. I'm not doing the R & D for them. That's why we customers pay the big bucks...to them to get it right.
Isn't the 600 plastic gears? Oh well. This ticks me off...I think I'm going to take my frustrations out by buying a 600!

I agree it would be better to pay an extra 20 or 30 bucks to have it with all metal gears!! atleast then there wouldnt be an issue ever!!
Surely all metal gears is gong to make the conversion to torque-tube a heavy one??

CNC Delrin made gears should be strong enough IMO. But not cheap.

The Gaui 200 has a TT. Bet those are some small gears! The initial reports I've read say the 200's tail is doing fine.
Come on Align, stop screwing around with the 700 and get the TT done!

I read on the otheRR site that the torque tube is expected in a couple weeks. The guy emailed Jason Krause and was told that the 700 had taken priority but to expect the TT within the next few weeks.

Excellent, nice to hear still in the works
Will be in line for one for sure, didn't buy the metal tail belt unit as wanted to hold out and wait for TT if it ever did come out.

Well this sounds great! All I need to do is wait a couple more months, then spend a whole paycheck on Trex 500 kit with all the upgrades! TT here I come!

sorry but what is the benefit of the torque tube? when I entered this hobby (through smaller models) I always read 'belt' is better etc. what did I miss  :P

in smaller helis a belt is better because it wont break as easily. in a larger heli the tork tube is more durable (not than a belt) it is more efficient and gives better tail authority.

its coming out just another month or 2. The 700 was priority :)

Torque tube is kind of like set up leave alone for good, but with a new belt after a while it starts to stretch and you have to re-tighten the belt also a belt can snap in flight which is not good.. Also a belt takes away a certain percentage of the power, but with torque tube you don't get that.....
Belt is normally favoured by beginners because it allows for slipping if you don’t get your landing just right, but with torque tube if you get the landing wrong say bye bye to the front TT drive gears

Would be nice if they could complete one model and iron out static issues before bringing out another.

the static issues are regional and all climate related. this i think should fall on the user in those areas. I still havent seen alan or dannys 500s with grounds and all on them and they live in nevada one of the dryest areas in the us ?
