 Wow! thats all I can say at this point. When I first got the hdx it came with no linkages at all, crummy bearings, missing some hardware (even though the bag was sealed) and no directions at all other than the finless dvd.
So after I got the replacement parts I finally got it in the air, not bad really once I got it flying but then after one descent 3d flight the spindle shaft bent on its own so I tried align shafts which didnt work, Finally got it back in the air again and my one way bering started giving out (after three flights:thumbdown:). I had a minor crash on my fourth flight so I ordered a hardened steel tail shaft, some flybars and a couple other parts. What do ya know the flybar was STUCK or so I thought til I got it off and had to just about hammer the new flybar in. I noticed the fly bar was tight from the get go but didnt pay much attention to it til I had to replace it. I moved on to the tail shaft I just ordered and again too thick and couldnt get past the bearings or get the pulley on that came in the bag with it.
So in summary I have about four and a half flights on this heli in a month and a half and I am VERY dissapointed to say the least. DO NOT BUY ONE- get a trex like I should,ve done.

Wow, that's surprising! A friend of mine and I have been flying HDX 450's for over a year now and have been very happy with them. Parts availability and HeliDirect service has been excellent but it's been a while since I've needed to order parts from them. Hopefully, this is a temporary problem even if that doesn't do you much good for now.
Good luck,
Steve R.
ive only had mine for a couple weeks now, but im really happy with it, i havent had any of the issues that i have read about. the build went well apart from some small modifications.

Me too, I'm very happy with my HDX 450, cheaper than the Trex and flies as good.
I crashed many times with it but it's my flying skill that sux, nothing wrong with the HDX.

My hdx450 is still sitting here with only 4-5 flights on it for three months I've owned it. since I ordered the parts and they didnt fit I havent even looked over at it I've been flying my nitros anyway. Its my shelf queen lol.
Maybe its just the couple that were put out at that time but still I have never had problems with any other brand of heli I've owned so I'm definately done with hdx.
By the way its for sale if anyone wants it hopefully the new owner wont have the same problems.

Probably not a good idea to say it's crap and for sale at the same time

Hey if you don't like your HDX450, I could use the parts, make me a good deal and I will buy it off of you... say 50 bucks? I love mine and I have had some spectacular crashes and had no issues getting parts or the stuff I get being top shelf. I am sorry for those that have had problems, some of my friends here have had a couple issues. I think it was just a bad lot of kits that hopefully helidirect has fixed.

$50.00:kisslol! Your kidding right? I have that in one servo. No offense but no thanks. Anyway I decided to give it one more shot and order up the parts I need since I have given some time for them to realize they had some bad stuff now hopefully I wont end up with it again. I had a couple of rants being frustrated with the whole thing and dont mean to bash helidirect I blame sonix since they manufacter the parts, so far helidirect has been fine. So here we go again, hopefully I end up a happy guy like some of you.

Well I got my parts today from helidirect in only two days shipping:thumbup:. Put the heli back together and I am very impressed at this point. It seems they changed some things or just shipped me the wrong parts before because the tail shaft is completely different and actually fits this time. I got three flights on it before the sun went down and it flew great. I was surprised to actually get 87% gain on the gyro without wag and anyone who knows helis knows that means a smooth mechanism.
So in summary I think I just got some bad parts off the back and they seemed to have noticed and fixed the problems and I couldnt be happier with how it all turned out:thumbup:. Now I see how people can actually compare the hdx to the trex.

That's great Heliadict. Now you know why some of us were so surprised by your experience. It's simply not typical of what the rest of us have experienced for the most part. Anyway, it sounds like you've got the bird working for you so enjoy and........
Fly Safe,

Most of the new parts, tail rotor drive shaft and pulley, and main gear asseblies are V3. I know you'll love your HDX as I still bring it to the field and fly it first before my 600N. Nothing compares to the nitro, smell, sound, response and run time, but the HDX will always be in my flying inventory. It always amazes people how rock steady that thing will hover. I too run my gain at 70%. Enjoy!

Ive had my 450 (bought used on ebay) for a year now. Had several crashes due to pilot error thus dumb thumbs :arggg: But the parts are reasonable, the shipping from helidirect is lighting fast. I like mine so much, I just purchased a scorpion 2210-6 motor and scorpion 45 controller. I cant wait to put in this beast of an engine. Oh, by the way I am a much better pilot now and parts are cheaper (no crashes lol). I also have a titan 50 nitro that I am getting acquainted with, great machine so far!!!! cheers to you hdx pilots
