Dumb Question Here Goes!!

I have been flying for years kinda new to helis and I was wondering while flying aournd doing loops rolls and such what position should the Gyro switch be in?? Should it be Up or down on the DX6i?? There has been a few times where I am flying around and it seems that the gryo gets out of wack somtimes!! The tail starts going from left to right and want stop. This makes it really hard to get it back down and land!!!!! I have to disconect the battery to reset it so it will quit. Has anyone had this issue...or is it because I need to change my gyro settings????

the gyro switch just alows u diffrent gyro setting
most heli folk fly in heading hold all the time.
so on the second switch position make it the same as the first. then if u hit it, wont matter. same with the D/R switches

for me i use the 401 gyro so i keep my 1 switch position below 50 so i go in to rate to check tail center
and my D/R switches are set to none on the 1 position so i can practice flying with out expo
