Looks great. It would be nice if the club could publish the rules for all the contests on the mtpleasantrc.com website before-hand.
I'm considering entering the target drop contest and while I was thinking who my partner might be, it struck me that this is a contest both my wife and I could participate in. What class helis will the drop mechanism fit on?

It will work with any helicopter, but it does not work as well with the 450 class as it does with the bigger helicopter. 50 or 90 size helicopters work really well, electric or Nitro does not matter.
It will work with the 450 but just not as well. It will be good to have your wife as your target drop person, all they have to do is release the device when they think you are over the target or when you say now for them to drop the target, or you can get a heli friend to help you as well.

With all the difficulties travelling on the airlines these days, I would like to try shipping my helis. Is there anyone who will be attending the southern rotary classic and lives in the area who would be willing to accept my helis and transport them to the event? I will have the return shipping prepaid with ups.
My flight arrives in dallas at 11 pm thurs night so I plan to drive to the field on friday morning and arrive about 10 am.
Thank you

Just a suggestion. Ship the helicopter to the motel/hotel where you will be staying. Just contact the motel/hotel and let them know you have a large package coming. People do that all the time at the motels/hotels in Muncie, IN when they are going to events at the AMA site and fly in on airlines and ship the models.
Then if you have return shipping arranged, just pack the model and give it to motel/hotel and the shipping company can pick it up .

Good suggestion. I just contacted the ups store in Mt Pleasant and will ship it there and then have them pick it up from the hotel. Right now United charges $125 each way for oversize luggage such as the golf case my models fly in.
I have had two kids on the US Free Flight Team and we used to fly all over the country and to the junior worlds in Slovakia and France. I don't think I could afford to do all of the travelling at the current prices nor would I want to handle all of the hassles we now have.
My only remaining problem will be fuel. hopefully I can buy some at the contest.

Terry: Is there going to be any preregistration for the seminars and contests? I just want to make sure I get into the ones that I want to participate in.

Hello guys, I have been on vacation for the last 7 days after leaving Ircha so I have not been able to keep up with the posting on this forum.
Alan there is no pre registration for anything including the event itself, with the possible exception of the non sponsored demo contest.
Registeration will be 25 dollars and this will give you one free ticket to helicopter we are giving away for the night fly, but you have to be there win it. We have 8 people that said they would like to enter that contest and I am thinking of having a preliminary round on Friday evening if all the contest that have enter will be there at that time. We don't want the contest to run to long because we have about 10 demos by the PRO's coming up right after the contest. So if we have the prelims Friday evening and the finals Saturday right before the 3D demos that would be great. Ircha did that exact same thing this year, but we had been having a contest like this for several years now.
We will definitely have the auto rotation semiar and possibly some more seminars, however, I am thinking of instead of having semiars just point out to everyone where all the pro guys are that can give out info, such as letting everyone know that Curtis will be at a certain location, Jason Krause at a certain location, Matt Botos at a certain location, Carl Bonta at a certain location, etc, etc, and if you have any questions feel free to go by and talk to these guys. However, if the seminar thing seem to be more to what people want then we can go that way. But the auto seminar is a definite.
Mike Fortin, looking forward to having you. Come on down and join the fun:)

Hello drav8r
There will be a number of vendors on site, but tell me what kind of fuel you need and I will try to make sure that at least one of the Vendors has it avaliable:)
I also sent you a PM on runryder but not sure you saw it.

Good, because if you don't know much -- or anything -- about autos, you wouldn't know what questions to ask.

Southern Rotary Classic lodging updates 8-26-2008
"Executive Inn" again is one our hosts motel this year for the SRC #22, held on Sept. 19-20-21 of 2008, in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
Please Call motel direct for reservations 903-572-6611.
You must mention the Southern Rotary Classic or Radio control Helicopter event in some fashion when getting your reservation.
A block of rooms have been blocked for this event until 9-12-2008. After that date, there is no guarantee of a reservation spot !
Rates will be 49.99 regardless of single or double beds etc. .
With taxes, that will come to around 56.00 per day. This is an economy hotel and is jut fine if all you wanting is a place to rest and slep. Pretty good rate for several to a room. You may put as many partners to a room as you like, ... bring a cot if you want to.
However for those that like something nicer, choice #2, is Holiday Inn Express, dial direct 903 577 3800. Must mention Southern Rotary Classic helicopter event somehow for special rates. Deadline to register at this hotel is 9-5-2008. This is $30.00 off !!!!
Rates 80.00 per night plus tax = about 91.00 per night. King size bed or 2 queen beds. This is a pretty new facility less then 5 years old and is discounting for us. More classy of a place !!

I just placed my reservation at the Executive Inn last night. The lady I talked to was well aware of the event, so you shouldn't have any hassles. Now all I need to do is get my Diablo put back together.

Bobby has had every intention of coming but is now unsure if he can make it this year because of school responsbilities. Therefore the latest list contains only names that I have confirmed are still intending to come. However that are a couple more well know people that are thinking about coming. I just don't want to put there names down until I am relatively sure of there apperance :)
That being said, there will still be more well known pilots here this year then last year :) If you have not seen Nick Maxwell or matt Botos, they will blow you away just like Bobby did last year and Daniel Jetshin from Germany is awesome as well.

So, is that list just for the "celebrities" or are you also including "ordinary" people on RR and HF (as if any of us are ordinary:))? As I recall last year, you included everybody who spoke up. If that's the case this year, you can add my name to the list.
I noticed Jeremy's name listed. Has he signed up to do a demo? If so, he's come a *long* way since last year.

Hey Alan, It's all just ordinary guys plus the pros. Copy the list and add your name bud.

I'm surprised Terry didn't add mine automatically then. We've been PM'ing back and forth regarding a photo op for last year's win in the Novice contest, since I missed the awards ceremony. I guess he just forgot.

Hi Alan
Actually the list was started on RR and I would prefer that everyone sign in themselves but I usually start out by adding some well known people's names to the list to generate interest, because a lot of guys want sign into the list themselves, but after that the list grows from there. You and Jeremy seemed to be the two most regular visitors to the site on helifreak, but for some unknown reason there are more post on RR, now well over 200 and more hits by viewers, now well over 15,000 then on helifreak but I like to use them both. Someone else on RR took it upon themselves to put the list in alphabetically order which was OK with me. However I wanted to move the list from RR to Helifreak and since Jeremy had already signed in, his name was on the list, but you had not signed in on RR so your name was not on the list. Yes, I will be looking forward to the event and seeing you there and also getting your picture taken since we missed it last year :)

I moved my name to its place in the first name sorting order that has been established. It felt kind of strange putting my name ahead of Alan Szabo, Jr.'s, though.
