While this is nice, I am toying with the new Hurricane 425...
very nice tom! i see it's a new frame but is it using the 550's mechanics with a shorter boom and blades? or is it all new?

Yes Happy Harry. Same head as 550, but diffrent paddels. Tail gearbox, is the same as 550, boom is shorter. New tail blades, really stiff ones, looks very nice. Frame is new, and it comes with two diffrent servo size options. Landing gear is 550 size. New GFK canopy. Upgraded motor mount is stock, as is the swashplate guide.
Tail linkage is a straight run from tail rotor to servo in the chassie. It comes with the M1110 (1100KV-1500W) motor and 50A ESC, same as 550. Strange huh? It´s supposed to run on a 6S 2000mA pack. I do not want to run it on a 6S pack, I am rather looking at a diffrent setup allready ;-)
I am offcourse going to try this stock setup, but next thing is to put on a Z-power 20 KV1700 and run in on 4S, 5S for extreme! Not sure about HS on a heli this size, but I think 2400-2700 would do it justice.
Battery placement is...well, diffrent to say the least. This is a pre production sample so things can change.
The HS-82 servos that I got is not going to fit. The frame is made for futaba servos, so I have to get some of thoose. I think the AUW will be close to 1700g something. Not used to this new "500" class I think it is a bit heavy?
Hi Tom,
So the Hurricane 425 is just a shorter boom version of the 550 given the head, gears, motor/ESC are pretty much the same? I would venture to say that this Hurricane 425 is not going to do very well with a set of 2 x 2100mA 3S packs since the original Hurricane 550 is a small battery pack "killer". I have 2 Hurricane 550s here and fly with both 2100 and 3300 packs. I can do anything with the 3300 packs, but I must be very careful with the 2100 packs since I can puff them right away if I get carried away with my maneuvers. I can only fly for about 4:30 - 5:00 min on the 2100 packs. Is that how the Hurricane 425 going to fly?
A friend of mine has a T-Rex 500 (425 mm blades) It is much smaller than my Hurricane 550 when the 2 of them sit side by side. The T-Rex 500 can fly very nicely for 6:00 - 7:00 min at 2500-2600 HS on a set of 2100 mA packs. The only way I would buy the Hurricane 425 is that its performance matches the T-Rex 500.

Tom Viper,
As the formal USA Distributor, the kit you are showing the American public is the EU (Swedish) version.
The specifications of the USA versions (there will be 2) will be finalized and released by the end of next week. This will include a torque tube tail system, and more CNC parts then the current EU version.
I respectfully ask that you allow us to handle sales and marketing here in the American market, on a forum which we pay to advertise on, and do not cause confusion with pictures and illustrations of what you will be selling overseas, as it is not a accurate representation of what the final kit will look like here in America.
Should you have any questions, concerns, or issues, please contact Paul @ GAUI who can confirm my statement.
Thank you for your understanding.
John

John,
I am not advertising this for sales reasons, and I am of no intrest to sell anything to the US or your market. I fully respect that you are the US importer, and a great one at that. The Hurricane 425 has not been released to the public in the EU yet, this is only a preproduction sample. I´m only discussing the heli as any other forum member.
You can rest assure we are of no intrest to step in to your market. The news on the torq version was not supposed to be released just yet. Gaui wanted to keep this a secret, untill all tests are done. It is very possible that the kits in US will have a diffrent setup.
I am sorry if I have caused any damage to you, this was not my intention. I will not post any more pictures, before you have released the us version.

John, Tom,
Please keep the info coming - this looks very interesting - for us Europeans as well as our American cousins.
Thanks,
Mike.

that's way heavy tom! the MSH Protoz is 1455g AUW with 6S 2170 flightpowers. it's plain to see where the weight is coming from though, using 30 size mechanics on a 425mm bladed heli. i'll have to see how the production model comes out before i consider my 425mm bladed machine purchase, but MSH has the lead so far!
you know i thought the gaui 425 would be the lightest out there in it's class because of how light they got the 550, but it seems i was wrong :(

Here is some closeups of the hurricane 425mm deluxe version with torque tube, full CNC, brushless motor, brushless esc, blades.
GAUI is pricing this at a commanding $699USD. (wow)
I am working with them to bring this to a more reasonable, and economical price point.
There is also a plastic, non torque tube tail version, with motor and esc, however with less cnc, for a price point around $399.
Feedback is extremely welcomed, as its your feedback that will set the bar with GAUI.

way too heavy for it's size, way too expensive for what it is and it's size, apart from that it's a nice frame upgrade and shrinking kit for the hurricane 550. also why the torque tube? trying to keep away from the static problems that align are going through with the T500?
oh and did i mention it's too heavy and too expensive?

WRONG. Read the rules. Moved t manufacturers and dealers. This is not RCG or RR. If you prefer those sites, that is your choice frequent them and not HF, that is fine. Freedom of choice is good for all. Don't make false accusations here thank you.

Do you have any pictures of the 500 SFD plastic frame, and any idea of the price.

John,
Looks good - but as mentioned by others, how much :wow2::wow2::wow2:
As a learner with a 550 one of the things that appealed is the initial purchase price and the spares price - the new pricing is in a different league Personally I prefer a belt tail to shaft drive (torque tube).
Cheers,
Mike.

My arguement has been (and continues to be) at $319.95, the hurricane 550 is a hard heli to beat for its size, handling, use of full-size servos (commonly available) and includes a sport power setup...thirsty pilots can move up the food chain rather easy with aftermarket frame options and power choices...
at $399, mid-size servos, and the ability to move from 500mm to 425mm blades in plastic form doesnt chomp at the bit too hard, however it does include a revised power setup. I can fly a 60/90 for $699.
ill wait for the final specs to be finalized and pricing model negotiations to finish.
Lets hope GAUI listens to our/your needs, otherwise our future together may be dim for this lineup.

then why has the post retuned to this thread and not the pictures? oh and thanks for the warning points will - trolling heh that's a laugh, couldn't you think of some better excuse to slap me down?
oh and i don't frequent runryder for exactly the same reason i mentioned above, and considering this site is what it is because of what runryder does when he gets upset at people posting things and not being an advertiser, (oops maybe that's why my comments recieved such a response!, it's like the son realising he's turned out to be exactly like the father he hated  ) i thought you would be more tollerant of people posting pictures of pre release heli's to aid in " Fun, Learning, Friendship and Mutual Respect" but i guess i was wrong, seems like the almighty dollar is king here too :(

Wrong again. JOHN is who brought his advertising, not us. If you and Tom both were not just trying to stir up trouble and hijack threads, then try to discredit the site by making up BS, things would be a lot different. This is not any other site, it is HF. Read the rules and abide by them. You are one infraction away from a timeout. It is simple, nothing personal, unless you force the issue. Advertising has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with this, and I have no idea why John said that. Read the rules, we are extremely consistent with how we run this site.
Also, we have 32 Support people here. If you think I can micro manage them, you are wrong. How about if you give up the BS conspiracy theory and play by the rules. Hijacking peoples threads like Tom loves to do is not OK. If you got something to say that is so important you make up a PILE of DUNG, then make a new thread of it how bout it.
