What went wrong??? Isn't that plastic main gear made for 4s lipo flying? 4s 90% trottle, 11T, governer.

luckily, only the landing skids and the gear tooths were broken.

What esc you have?
When I bought my first 4S Lipos, I couldnīt get the main gear to last.
Sometimes motor chewed main gear tooths off during loops etc.
Flying all the way to lipo-cut was sure way to destroy maingear.
I tried tweaking all parameters of esc, but only change that actually helped was going back to throttle curves..
My setup was: Hextronik 2200mAh 4S Lipos, Castle Phoenix 35 esc, 450TH motor (later I bought Zpower Z10A-3000) with 10t pinion.
Now I use governor again, but setup is a bit different: CC45, Scorpion HK2221-6, 4S A123.. Strange, but no main gear problems now..

I use the standard BLC40A ESC with governor mode ON. FP EVO25 2500mAh.So it seems i'm not the only one with this problem?

What motor are you using? I don't have the manuals here with me but I am positive the stock motor can't run 4S, and I'm hazy on the ESC. I didn't think it was built for 4S either. Check your manuals.
Weird that the main gear held out through the FFF and then blew out on a hover. How did you set your gear mesh, by eye or with a piece of paper? If I had to guess I'd say your pinion ate the main gear. Maybe its too low on the shaft and the curved portion of the pinion was meshing?
Things to think about anyhow.
