I hope this is not a dumb question - I am a complete noob and have only just bought my DX7. Also apologies if this has already been discussed in another thread, though I have done a lot of searching and could not find the info I need. Anyway here goes:

Using a Mode 2 DX7,
in Function Mode (ie. after pressing "scroll" and "down" together),
from any of the Throttle or Pitch Curves,
when moving the Left/Collective stick completely down, I get an "IN" value of 2 and not 0 as seen in Jermo's DX7 Setup Video (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/generic&filename=dx7v3.wmv). (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/generic&filename=dx7v3.wmv)
when moving the Left/Collective stick completely up, I get an "IN" value of 98 and not 100 as seen in the Jermo's DX7 Setup Video. (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/generic&filename=dx7v3.wmv)

Is this normal? Is there any way to change to the correct values?

Thanks Geoff.

Check the throttle channel endpoints.

Check the throttle channel endpoints. Not sure how I do this. Is this a setting from the function menu?

Also, am I making a mountain out of a molehill, because I suppose the differences very small? I just wondered if other DX7's were like this? so far I have only seen the one in the above video.

Function List (or Mode) -> Travel Adjust Check the numbers for the Throttle.

If that fails, call Horizon.

This might help.

I think I may have over-reacted on this one. I guess it is what comes from being a newbie. Anyway these are the conclusions I have drawn.

I switched on the transmitter and re-checked all the trims to make sure they are centered (checked visually and audibly). I then chose a model I haven't yet programmed (model 10). I then performed a data reset on that model to put it back to default settings. I then went into the function menu, and to the [THRO CURVE] for NORM. (although I get the same results for all throttle curves and pitch curves). With the throttle stick in its lowest position, the IN value reads 2. With the stick in its highest position it reads 98. Note I have not changed any settings beyond default.

However I have just noticed that if I push up really hard on the stick I can get it to briefly flash up 99 and then 100, similarly by pushing down really hard, I can get it to read 1 and then 0. Question then: Maybe when the transmitter is brand new and the sticks are still nice and tight, Spektrum calibrate it to read 2 - 98, in order to allow for a little wear and tear on the gimbal bushes and bearings etc, in the expectation that over time it will start to read 0 - 100 at the far extremes of stick travel.

I would be interested to hear anyones views on this, and would also be interested to know how your own transmitter compares when performing the same test.

Checked both my DX7 and my X9303. I get 0-100 on both regardless of which model I've got loaded or empty slots.

It sounds like what the problem is, is that the stick is reaching it's mechanical stop.
Could be a calibration issue.

I have a similar problem (although not really a problem)
My normal stick movement is about 1 IN/ 99 IN,
I can get 0 IN/ 100 IN if I apply presure to the stick.

I'd say it's never a problem though, as in flight, I dont think you'll ever actually have a need to bring that stick all the way to full travel.

Give Horizon Service Center a call at 1-877-504-0233 tomorrow, ask them what they think.
My guess its a calibration issue.

This is calibration (not endpoint) and I wouldn't worry about 2% at each end. Proper setup of links, programming of ESCs, etc. will ensure that all travels are correct.

I've had MANY transmitters, and some are "spot on" and others are a percent or two off.

If it REALLY bothers you, search this forum or RCgroups and find out how to get into setup mode. In this mode, you can recalibrate. But... you can also seriously screw up your TX. Personally, I wouldn't do it. Nor would I send it in... to your point, "wear and tear" will change it by a percent or so over time.

I have re-calibrated transmitters. For example, I had an 8103 blown off a table by the wind and land face down on concrete. After CA-ing the gimbal/pot mount back together, it had to be re-calibrated. This can be done in setup mode. But again, just 2% off? I wouldn't bother... setup MORE than takes care of this.

So the real question is: What was I doing flying on a day when the wind could blow a TX off a table? Yikes!!

Anyway, I would leave your TX alone, were it mine.
