I'm trying to find info on optimal setup with throttle curves. I'm running a YS50 and Align pipe. I've past the break-in period and am proceeding to lean the engine out. The max temps I am getting is around 150 near the top of the cylinder head (the part right below the shroud). My curve is set at 87-60-87 in a V-shape. I'm running around 1900-2000 rpm. I do get some bogging at max pitch but its not too bad. I'm wondering if I should raise the curve up to 100% at the edges? I don't want to over-rev the engine though. I do get a bit of speed-up in a descent. It's tough to figure out how much though. Doesn't seem like much. I'll be getting a governor in the coming month but just want to be safe with my setup in the meantime. Thanks for the help!

if you lower the 2nd and 4th points then there wont be any overreving. i think mines at 100,55,40,55,100 in idle 1. something like that wont give too muck power until higher pitch ranges.

I back that up with a 100,66,48,and so on. But mine is os and align pipe. still works really well IMHO.

Ok I will go with more of a U-shape. So is over-revving that bad that you don't want it ever occurring? Or is it something that harms your motor over time?
thanks,

you should never have overreving unless you are decending when the increased airspeed through the rotor causes it to speed up and with the engines power, will speed up quite a bit. during forward flight, inverted, turns, climbs, ect the engine should stay pretty close to the same rpm. the only way to prevent it from unloading in a decent is to have a governer that can compensate for that.

yup descent is where I got the over-reving. I think I can adjust my throttle curve for now, but a multigov will be in my future for sure. Less hassles and I am used to running the govener in my electric heli's anyways.
Ive used the mas technique with my raptor 30v2 with 0, 25, 50, 75, 100 and idle w/ 100, 75, 60, 75, 100 with a Futaba Gv-1. Pitch Curves was straight Linear also 0, 25, 50, 75, 100, Is this acceptable for the trex, because my information and setup was from 3 years ago, I didnt want to make another post so il post this here.

adjusting throttle curves wont help the heli from unloading while decending, only a gov can do anything about it. i didnt worry about it, just try not to bring the heli down like an auto while in idle up
