I'm currently using the Align 2-in-1 with the supplied 2S 1900mah lipo, and i can only get about 3-4 flights before it needs to be re-charged. I'm using JR8717's for cyclic, JR770 and 8900 tail combo, JR821on the throttle, and the Multigov as my governor. Any ideas on what would work better for me?

Seems about the same to me. Maybe 4 to 5 flights.

I have the original 1900 align pack plus 2 x 2200 align packs.
I only take a gallon of fuel with me to the field which gives about 10 flights. The 2200 packs I get 6 flights from before losing all green lights on the 2in1. Therefore 1 battery change during the day.

Maxamps 3100Mah
FlightPower 4300Mah
The trex is very well balanced with the 3100 and a touch nose heavy with the 4300. After 4 or 5 flights on the 4300, all of the green lights on the power switch that came with the kit are on.

I use 2 align 1900 7.4v batterys in parallel. Together both weigh about 200 grams, and the heli is slightly nose heavy. I haven't really had time to see how many flights I can get on it, but I think I can get about 7 to 8.

I use the fromeco 5200mah li ion pack. I can do 12 flights on it and then load check it at 1 amp and it's well above 7 volts. These are the battery that 40% planes use for there 10+ servos, so it has more than enough power for our 5 servos. It comes in at 6.6 onces but my rex balances perfect with it. not bad at 70 bucks to.

Not using a 2 in 1 myself, as i intend to put on a switch glo at some point, but i am using the flight power rx 3000 mah pack, which is 4s running as 2, with duralite 6v regulator. I love the flight power stuff:banana
Hi All,
Just my $.02, but why don't you go with smaller flight pack batteries and recharge while you're at the field. Bring your Accu-Cycle and charge at 1C off your car battery. You'd have a full charge in a little over half an hour of talking with the guys. No need to switch batteries. Just take a break.
Saves substantially on weight.

I picked up an Evolite 2S 2500 for my 2-1.
I just bought 2 of the Align packs in addition to the 1 that came with the 2 in1. They are cheap and 2 of them cost about as much as a 1 bigger fancier pack. I can have 1 in the heli, 1 on the charger, and one on standby and fly all day like that without taking a break.

I just did exactly the same. I figure I'll check it at the field with my load tester, but the plan so far is to run 3-4 flights, then swap the pack and charge. I don't want to risk the low voltage issues I've heard about.
I had 5 flights out of one pack last weekend with no problems, but it was done at the end of that. I just got the two extra packs today. Here's hoping for decent weather for the weekend! :banana

Sorry for the noob question, but these FlightPower packs, do they require a special charger or something ? Looking at Tower, they say this is required .. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXRWF6&P=V and a charger !
...and why three plugs on this pack ? ... http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXRWF3&P=7 Is one for a remote charger or something ?
I don't want to spend another 150 bucks just so I can use FlightPower !
I would like something in the 3000mah range so I don't have to change batteries during the day, but the only charger I have is the one that comes with the Blade 400. The FlightPower charger plug doesn't look compatible with my charger.
Can anyone suggest something ?? thx...

Nawww. Bring three batteries. One in the heli, flying. One charged and ready to go.... then the last one on the charger. All three in rotation. This way you can hog a flying station at the field and burn lots of fuel. Nothing wrong with taking a break and bulls-hitting (is that a word?) with the buds. Burning fuel, lots of it, is where you gain skill and have the MOST fun. Not 'hitting bulls':D .

i use a 2200mah 2s airthunder lipo. i get about 4-5 flights on it before the first green light goes out. since i usually have all my electrics in tow anyway, i just toss it back on a charger.

Another vote here for the Fromeco Li-ions. I use the smaller 2200 mAh one on mine and I can get 4 flights just hovering out of it with a fair amount of capacity left. I think I'm going to switch to the larger one though.

If you want to charge 3000mah packs then I doubt the charger that came with the Blade 400 could handle it, (at least in a reasonable amount of time). In addition, as you already guessed, the Eflite balance connectors are different than the Flight Power connectors and wouldn't fit anyway.
If you're going to be in this hobby, whether Nitro or Electric, you're going to want a better charger for sure.
My suggestion is to get an FMA Cellpro 4s. They are relatively cheap, ($75.00) have an integrated balancer, and are very user friendly. Then get a couple of smaller, less expensive Lipos and charge while you're at the field. The Cellpro will charge one of the Align 1900mah Lipos in about 30min if you want it to. You could also charge your Blade batteries with this charger and junk the one it came with.

Eflite Adapter

FMA sells adapters for about every make of battery out there to work with the Cellpro.
As far as batteries go: I'm a big fan of the Align Lipos for the Nitro. They are cheap, do the job well, and you don't have to worry about trashing an expensive Lipo in an already expensive Heli in case of a crash.

For what its worth, I use Common sense RC 8c packs. I use 2, 2000mah ,2-cell packs in parallel and have never had any problems. As wired, these packs can sustain 32 amps with higher bursts. More than the regulator can use. :-)
I am looking hard at the Duralite Lithium Manganese packs though. These do not have the flame potential of my current packs.

Does anyone use 3s 11.1V lipo's and regulate it down for the 7.4V 2in1?
Currently using 3 align packs 1 charge, 1 standby, 1 fly.method. although,I have been pullin the batt after 3 flights.. down to 1 green at that time and don't want to chance it with the spektrum rx.

No one runs 4-5cell nimh anymore huh? My buddy had a rappy 50 with a 5cell 3800 nimh. He could fly many flights before any monitoring lights went out. No need for voltage regs also.....just a switch.

Lipos are much easier to live with than NiMh batteries.
NiMh batteries must be discharged after each use otherwise the capacity drops away rapidly (memory effect).
If you are using a 5cell NiMh pack you would still need a stepdown for the tail servo.

I use a MaxAmps 3100mah 2 cell 7.4 volt lipo on our heli. It is nearly perfect in terms of front to back balance on the helicopter too, only about 2-3 clicks of trim. I used to run a Flightpower 4340mah lipo but it weighs a little bit too much. Both are able to handle more than 5 flights of hard 3D flight, with the Flightpower able to do 8-10 if you wanted to push it (never have). In my opinion, if you are looking for a really good battery I would consider the MaxAmps, and for only about $1.50 you can have any battery lead and balancing tap put on from the factory.
