I crashed my Hurri recently due to a one way bearing faliure. Fortunately the damages were small, skids and my MS Composit GF blades.
I have now received a new bearing. But before i assemble it i would like to know if any lubricant should be used in the bearing?
Read several threads about this matter in a swedish forum and it seems to be a dissonance whether it should be lubricated or not.

Are you using lubricant on your one way bearing?

i use a light coat of silicone oil, and then blow most of it out with compressed air, then wipe the rollers clean. too much oil and it will slip. too little oil and you could ruin it.

I did not lube mine in the beginning and it failed within 3 flights, since then have lubed it with ball differential grease from model cars. Thunder tiger sells some in a small tube as well. Never had problem since.

Just got the 20t one and would lube that when I install it as well.

Merlin what kind of failure did you have?
I had an accident today. I was making some fast pitch movements and suddenly i heard a noise and the motor didnt give energy to the blades, so it fell. I suspect it was a sliding between the one way bearing and the plastic gear it is hosed in. Did this happen to anyone? How can i solve this . Are you aware of an upgrade because i suspect that there is a design error at this part.

petranf, if your gear in which the oneway bearing is seated is plastic then you must have one of the first Hurricane models which i think had plastic ones. I read that the plastic gears cracked and that allowed the bearing to rotate in the gear. The new gears are metal.

'the new metal geared one way bearing gave way too on my 550, was doing fliop and suddenly lost power. The cash cost me a pair of blades, frame, mast, spindle and a pair of batteries !!!!!

i've also heard of people in the rc car/truck racing industry swear on their mothers name that mobile1 synthetic oil is the best OWB lube out there, but i've not tried it myself.
