Just got back from a "lunch time" flight....flew 4 sets of batteries....

one set through each of the main settings on both ESC's.

Set up is Z20-980kv, 14t pinion, go-quick 515 cf blades, long boom.
lipos as used all 25c 2200 hextronic, 2500, 2500 and 3300 Polyquest used in that order. norm TC ws fairly straight to 95% and Idle up was 95% all across the board. Left it the same on all flights.

First , I had no problems with either ESC...they both ran perfectly.

************* UPDATED WITH EAGLE TREE DATA *************

...................Gaui 3 beeps gov.....Gaui 4 beeps..........Align non-gov......Align gov

lipo temp ............75F.....................90F........... ............85F....................85F...

1st flight..Gaui 50A in 3 beep setting, no problems (govenor, extremely smooth rpm line on ET))

2nd flight...Gaui 50A....4 beeps...no problems

3rd flight Align 75A , no brake, high timing, low voltage, non-gov soft start, medium speed

4th flight Align 75A, no brake, high timing, low voltage, soft start gov mode, medium speed.

It was very windy 10 -15 mph...(kept blowing my hat off) and I flew 5 minutes flights on each pack, 8's stall turns, hard turnarounds, a few max pitch climbs.

Both ESC's functioned perfectly with no problems noticed. I personally thought the Align seemed like it had a higher headspeed...so I did not notice reduction in power as some have reported.

Never got any Wag..so that is fixed.....

I will download the Eagle tree data and post any relevant findings, maybe tonight. SEE ABOVE UPDATE

From what I felt flying, I should be able to use the Align with my Z20.

I have been using the Align 75A ESC on my Hurricane because I never thought the GAUI 50A ESC was adequate . The Align ESC has been running uneventful for the last 97 flights :) It is running so well that I am considering getting another one for my 2nd Hurricane.

MJ, I aggree with your findings.

I have found that the Align 75A ESC works fine with both the Z20 or Z30 motors. I have not experienced any reduction in power using this ESC even when comparing it back to back with the Gaui 50A unit.

And how about flight times? I heard reports that a Jazz against a Gaui will bring a minute flight time.

What motor are you running.....the problem was several people have stated the Align does not seem to go well with the Z motors...and has reduced power, cutouts, etc.

I was afraid to use the Align after reading several posts, but I wanted to see for myself.

Unless mine is just a good one....I don't see where it will cause any problems.

The Z20 does not pull many amps and the Gaui 50a would also be adequate, plus it has a slower spool up.

I run it on the RCP H/18 for the first 42 flights. The H/18 motor was pulling an average of 50 amps on loops and flips. Some maneuvers drew 78A. This motor was very hot at the end of the flight, but the Align 75A ESC was not even warm.

I switched to the Z20A motor for the last 55 flights. I do some pretty hard flying sometimes. The motor was just barely warm at the end of the flight. The ESC was cool.

What pinion are you using?

If you got the Align 75A esc to work well with the Z30, this is good news. I was suprised when I tried it, that I couldnīt get it to work. Tried all settings too. I even exchanged it for a new one, to see if there was anything wrong with the first one. Same issue...

Maybe Align has updated the firmware in the controller? Or I managed to get two faulty ones (what would the odds be? hehe). When I put on the Gaui 75A esc, that diffrence was like night and day. Iīm not saying the Align ESC are bad, its just that I didnīt have any luck with these and the Z30.

I wonder, are you guys flying it hard with performance lipos? Othervise (this is just a guess) you might not have noticed the diffrence? I am running a HS of +2300 and pushing it quite hard. But then again, I noticed the diffrence in HS right away, during spool up.

If you got the Align 75A esc to work well with the Z30,.

Tom I'm using the Z20-980...that might make a difference...not as much power, or maybe the newer cored Z20 is more compatible, I'm just glad I didn't waste the money...and little amps as the Z20 uses the Gaui works just fine also....in fact I like the slow spool up much better.

Tom,
I'm using the Align 75A and have had no problens at all. I think I set it up back in August of last year so I don't know what version it is. No problems at all. I have a Z20 980 and I am not using gov.

What pinion are you using?

13T with the RCP H/18 1100 Kvfor a headspeed of around 2000

14T with the Z20A 980 Kv for a headspeed of around 1900

Ok, but have someone tried it with the Z30? I never did use it on the Z20 motor.
