Hello....
I just checked the raptortechnique.com about the throttle curves and it's recommended to use 21,32,40,48,100 ... why is it like that, why is there that huge 50-100% of throttle only between point 4 and 5, or they are assuming everybody has a OS37??? in the manual is recommended 0,30,50,75,100...... what should I do???? I know the one in the manual is just as reference, but I find there is too much difference between the manual and raptortechnique... why??? I have an OS 32 SX... anyone with this heli and this engine??? what curve can I use??? I am using 20,40,60,80,100... I haven't flown much, so, I can say how I feel it, I mean, it hovers but I feel it has too much RPM, I don;t have a tachometer or somebody around to help me out.. thanks guys

I'm assuming we're talking "Normal" mode here. Anyway, what pitch curve are you running, since that relates to the throttle curve?
Here's what I'm running in the "Normal" mode with the same heli and engine as you: throttle: 10, 25, 25, 38, 100 & pitch: 23, 23, 38, 64, 92
my total pitch range is: -5 to +10
my hover pitch is: +5.75
my rpm in "Normal" is 1550 to 1600 rpm
I'm only doing basic hovering and flight at this point. I don't know if this is a great set-up or not, but it works for me. As you are, I'm having to do it on my own. It really helped when I got an optical tach to get a feel what is happening with the head speed. I'm sure one would help you as well.

thanks for the answer, yes, it is normal mode, wow, I guess I had too much RPM in the head, I was hovering with 80% throttle!....., pitch is -2,0,+9, I think I am gonna change it to -4, 0, 9... for now.. is it ok????? but... so, you must be hovering at 40-45% throttle aproximately??? why is there that huge difference from 38 to 100 in between only 2 points of the curve?... I thought throttle should be divided equaly as the manual indicates: 0,30,50,75,100

I see you are setup for 3/4 stick hover. You want to set point 4 for the throttle required to hover at your desired headspeed. Point 5 will be the throttle required to keep that headspeed at full pitch. Point 5 may not need to be 100% in normal mode. The reason for the big jump is that as you pull pitch on the blades, you will need significantly more power to maintain the headspeed. Using a 3/4 stick hover, points 1,2, and 3 are just to ramp up the motor to hover speed at point 4.
The best way to check would be to setup about 5.5* of pitch at point 4 then adjust your point 4 throttle until it hovers there. Your headspeed should be close to 1600 then, tach it if you can. After that do a full power climb and see what your headspeed does. If it increases, drop your top point down from 100. If you look at a lot of the normal curves on Raptortechnique, he doesn't use 100* for point 5 on a lot of them.
The whole idea is to move your throttle and pitch curves around so that at any stick position you have a constant headspeed. If its going up and down as you move the stick, you need to tweak your curves. If you find that you keep headpseed constant in a full power climb but it drops if you flip/roll, then read the section he has on cyclic->throttle mixing.

Yes, I'm actually hovering at 38% throttle.
The reason for the big jump from 38 to 100 between the last 2 points of the curve is that I'm hovering with the stick in the 3/4 position. I have 0 degrees pitch at the half stick (mid stick) position. The reason for this is when a person gets into doing more aerobatics in the IDLE-UP curves, most folks go with mid stick being 0 degrees pitch.
Here's my pitch curve numbers again along with the pitch they provide. That may help to clarify things:
low stick, -2.5 degrees pitch, and 23%
1/4 stick, -2.5 degrees pitch, and 23%
1/2 stick, 0 degrees pitch, and 38%
3/4 stick, 6 degrees pitch, and 64% (hover)
full stick, 10 degrees pitch, and 100%
Hope this helps.

Hi JimT.... I just received my spare parts and blades, I'll set up my heli just like you and I'll give it a try tomorrow..... what do you mean by more advance aerobatics????? I thought that the OS32 was too limited to fly around with the raptor 30 v2.... is it right???? or you can do loops and inverted with the OS 32?????? what is the limitation of this engine????? thanksss
Also, I read somewhere that the raptor is the lightest 30 size heli... does anyone know if that is correct???? thanks

Here's the link to a video of the Raptor 30: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uw-pjAd3-sw
Wish I could fly like that. It really points out what the 30 is capable of. Don't know if it has a 32 in it or maybe a 37. You can hear it bogging down, but the pilot seems to be a master of throttle management.

wow, it's cool... I had read before that it's possible with a OS 37.... if you read in the comments he says he has a OS37 and a TT muffler.....
I tried today my heli with your set up and it's great!!!! it hovers at 57%.... I saw some fuel spitting out of the exhaust and I closed a bit the main needle, I guess it was too rich, I hovered it for 1 tank and then I had a problem... check out my other post... thanksssss

Thanks JimT and ghtracey. I could fly very good my raptor, unfortunately I crashed almost at the end of my tank :( but it's ok, I was very excited because the engine and heli responded GREAT!!!!, lots of power in the OS 32 SX, it responds very well, I'll post the link of the crash after.... :)

You're welcome. Sorry to hear about the crash. One thing about these helis is that after a while they become like "Granddpa's Old Hammer" with "3 new handles and 2 new heads". :) Mine started out as a V1 and is now a V2 and seems to fly better each time I fix it. Much different than when you crash a plank.

Yes, I bought it used on ebay and I had to replace some parts (clutch, spindle, some linkages). However, I never flew it high because I was afraid it would just fall appart on the air and I used to fly it 10-20feet high, today was pretty windy and after a turn, I think I caught a gust of wind and the heli went down and I couldn't give enough elevator and it went straight to the ground, fortunately it was snow and it wasn't that bad, however, I'll need a complet crash kit and a couple of spare more for the head. Now that it's me who is going to put together the heli, I'll be more confident to fly it higher without being worried that it could stop or fall appart. I really liked the raptor, it was the first time I was more confident to fly :) before, I had a TT39 and sometimes it was dying on the air, hehe, that is why I used to fly low enough to do autorotation fast, with the OS 32 properly tunned, the heli had power, I was pleased with it, but, what can I do..... pilot error, next time, I'll be more careful, I'll post the link to the video as soon as my friend upload it to youtube. :)
