What's the best aproach for spooling up the main blades from a stop?

Do I need to worry about wearing the clutch out? (I ain't afraid of changing parts, but if extending the life of something means a little extra effort, that is fine by me)

As I see it there are two approaches, and I've tried both so far and I can rationalize a reason when each might be best...

#1 The slow and steady approach. The clutch slips at the beginning, but once it grabs the main disk spins up in sync with the motor.

#2 The "Stab it to 50% collective (50% throttle, 0 blade pitch). The clutch seems to grab rather quickly, but I can't tell if the motor is just bogged down while spooling up, or if the clutch is slipping while the main disk spins up..

Thoughts?
