I got the 401 to stay in heading hold mode when you turn the heli on in "normal" mode, but when I switch to Idleup 1 or 2 it will not stay in heading hold mode.
Why? Or any ideas where I can start? I am fairly new to this so excuse me if its a stupid question.
Thanks
Derek

What transmitter are you using?

DX7 (AR7000) and the gain is in the Gear channel.

I am not that familar with the DX7. But if you can have the gain settings different in each flight condition. I would think you need the change the values in idle up 1 and 2 so the gyro will be in AVCS mode and not Normal mode.
Something is causing the gyro to switch modes when you change from Normal flight conditions to the idle up conditions.
Look on Page 91 of the manual

I would think you have the values set different for Stunt mode than you do for Normal mode in the Gyro program.

Are you using the GYRO SENS menu or just endpoints for gain? If the menu, you can set the gain differently depending on the flight mode switch. Check the manual and/or Jermo's DX7 video for help in setting this up properly.
