My hurricane is my first heli and I love it. I have stock gearing with 1100kv gaui motor and 13 tooth pinion. I just installed the metal head and tail and was checking the pitch on my main rotors and noticed I only had +/-9 degrees in idle up one and two. When I hit throttle hold I have +/-10. I had a club member help me with setup and this is what he set it to. Is this enough or should I set it in idle up to +/-10 degrees? Should I go even higher? It is flying great and it is plenty of heli for me the way it is now I was just wondering what everyone else is running. BTW head speeds in idle up 1 and 2 are 2250 and 2500.

It is really up to you but.... unless you want performance. Less pitch is a little easier to handle.

It depends on flying style, but I set up mine for as much pitch as possible. I have mine now at +/- 12.5 degree pitch, and 8 degree cyclic. Offcourse, you cannot fly it at full pitch, but used wisely and with care, you can do spectacular stuff! If hard 3D is not your game, then +/- 9 is a good start.

one question i have about this is, if i set mine up with say -9/+9 would i still be able to pull off inverted? is that "enough" neg pitch? i've got it at -11/+11 right now, and it's a bit of a handfull. really sensitive on the collective. give left stick up and she ROCKETS into the air lol. i'd like to tame it, but if loops and rolls and some invert attempts are no good with less overall pitch range i guess i'm stuck.

Yes offcourse, 9 degree is enought for inverted flight. Just keep that HS up.

Adjust the pitch in normal to a lower value and see how it flies...or else keep the 9 deg in normal and idle 1 then put more in idle 2 and it will always be available to you.

In normal I set mine at -3 +10 mid at 0 and use -10 +10 in both idle 1 +2,

But I have learned there is no right way for all....go by feel...if it feels to touchy reduce settings and/or increaase/decrease expo....

You could fly a heli thats' set up "perfectly" for someone else and it would feel terrible to you.....

I have read some articles that say when learning they advise having just enough pitch in normal to just about get off the ground with -1 on the low side.....of course that is only for learning hovering...not FF...

It's all about getting comfortable and confident with the machine.....

Hard core 3D guys always push the envelope....and I may never get to that point.

+/-9 is good but so is +/-11. however if it is to touchy it through some expo in the collective settings and tame it down. you will still have 11 if you need to save in a bail out but you will use less range in the mid stick.
