Do any of you run without the tail boom supports? I mean how much support can these things really supply anyways? Removing them would drop several grams from the back of the heli and probably allow me to remove that quarter from the nose of my canopy. Whatchya think?

I have two without the supports and one with. I dont think they do much if anything besides add weight.

is the cnc tail really that heavy? My heli really isn't tail heavy. Although I do have that honking gy 401 gyro in the heli. But I still have the plastic tail parts, maybe they are a lot lighter.

The MH tail is half a gram heavier than stock.

no I meant the stock CNC tail on the hurricane 200. Is it really that much heavier than the plastic tail that was on the ep100? I'm using the ep100 plastic tail and my bird isn't really that tail heavy. I even have a 3153 servo for the tail and its not exactly light weight.

In a crash though would the supports actually do anything to prevent damage? Could they actually cause more damage? They are very flexible and from that standpoint can't possible provide any support that would be substantial enough to warrant having them in stalled. On that note, what about the little horizontal stabilizer on top of the boom support collar? That thing has to be complete useless and is just there to dress up the tail boom support collar. I am removing both today and will weigh them and post how much weight is saved. Actually I am doing it right now.

Ok, the parts all together with screws weighed 2g according to my scale. I'll call it 3g as the scale stopped at 3g and then dropped to 2 and some material was lost while cutting the boom support collar off of the tail. So, not a lot of weight savings, but this did make the nose of the heli just a touch heavier (with the quarter still in the nose of the canopy). Honestly I was hoping to save a little more weight. Total weight with the fiberglass canopy is now 273g. What's your guys total weight?

My AUW with the Gaui battery and the heavy FG canopy is 260.3g.

Why am I so heavy? Thats weird. Maybe its the rx and aluminum tail boom? Did anyone ever weigh the aluminum tail boom and CF tail boom? Do you have a 200 with the aluminum tail boom Buzzkill?

What RX you using? A quater weighs 5.5g. Thats adds some weight.

The AR6000 that came with my DX6. Weighs 7g. If I remove the quarter I am sure to get tail heavy again.

What battery and servos are you running?

The Gaui 800mah batteries are all that I have, 44g there. The BMS-306BB servo at all 4 points, 6g each.
