I'm converting my Extreme to a Stratus and am upgrading the clutch stack with the clutch bell and clutch.

The problem is that the threads on the new clutch itself don't seem to match the threads on the clutch driver as I can't get the clutch to screw on. It's as if the threads don't match. I tried the old clutch and it goes on tight, but it does screw back on.

I did clean the threads of the existing clutch driver and on the new clutch. Still no go.

Suggestions? Do I need to get a new clutch?

The HD clutch should screw right on the Extreme clutch driver. I have converted my clutches to the larger HD clutch and bell. I just screwed the old clutch off and screwed the new HD clutch on. Same thing with the clutch bell. Took me about 10 mins to complete the change over once I got the unit out of the heli.

You loose the MA parts lottery... I've installed 2, one turned all the way down by hand the other took 4 hours to get all the way down after running a 10x1 tap through it. It's not the right pitch thread but it's close... DO NOT TRY TO FORCE IT WITH 7 foot cheater bar. One guy here ripped the steel threads right of his driver. Send it back to MA.

OK, so it doesn't fit. What are my options with MA. I've had a lot of quality control issues in the past. I've eaten the cost for most of them, since cost for me to ship back exceeded the cost of the parts. It's my one complaint against MA.

It's been my experience that MA has been very good at replacing defective or missing parts. Give them a call, they'll fix you up.
