I was working on the setup of the head on my heli today and while trying to pop off one of the links on the seesaw the entire screw pulled out of the plasctic, along with the ball. On closer inspection it looks like there is only about 2mm of thread in the plastic. I replaced with longer ones and some CA for good measure, and while unscrewing the opposite side I noticed that it was already coming loose.

I have not seen this mentioned before, or I have missed it, but hopefully it will save somebody some money!

It has been mentioned a number of times before and Bob covers it in his build videos - it's pretty poor design IMHO. When I built my kit I replaced all of the self tappers with suitable length hex-head machine bolts and ca-ed them in for added security.

If you haven't watched Bob's vids they are well worth watching and should be compulsory viewing for all 550-ers :):)

yup, me too. when i removed and replaced the balls on the plastic seesaw, as soon as i tightened it, it came right off in my hand. cnc seesaw all the way. hell, the cnc seesaw should have been manditory for the xes head anyhow.

i think my heli is cursed, maybe some bad karma being revisited upon me. when i was installing my cnc seesaw, pressing in the bearing, the bearing fell apart right in my hand! i barely had any pressure on it when it crapped. the suck of it is, the outer race somehow got pressed fully in at the exact moment the bearing fell apart. i could not for the life of me get it out. finally i just brought it to work with me, and had the metal shop get it out with a mill- of course after i ordered another one assuming that one was not repairable. jeez i've had some bad luck with this 550. don't care though, i still love her!
