when I purchased this the ad said that this was 98% compatible with the trex 450 parts so far I have nothing but problems with this thing. the latest issue is an extremly bad vibration with the blades on, I have put in a new main shaft, new feathering shaft and new main gear still have the issue. the gears I got that are sold for this are not compatible( the ones sold specifically for this) the shafts are not compatible and the blades are not either ( dont fot in the grips without sanding off the reinforcements). None of the align blades fit this thing. So if I do the math it appears 98% uncompatible does anyone have any ideas what would cause this thing to have such a bad vibration??? With the blades off the head and flybar track fine and no noticible issues, I took it in to have it set up by a LHS and basically the guy laughed and said why didn't I get a name brand heli. Also what is compatible, can I swap the head and main gear and main shaft for align??? so at least I can find blades that fit???

Yes you can use the trex head and main gear, with a 106T gear for the tail drive....

Hey how is it goin, I am sorry that you are having problems with your HDX, I love mine. I am the only one flyin one here in Iraq with about 6 other Trex's. I have no problem swapping parts, main shaft, gear, flybar, belt, landing gear, feathering shaft, the blades are tight but with bolts just snugged up they fly fine. The tail paddles work fine, I have no issues. I have had problems with the Sonic flybars, and HDX fiber blades, they are too tight. But I am flying right now with the Align auto hub and main gear with no issues. I use the Align canopies too. The dampers are different for the blades and servo placement is a lot better than the Align set up for getting the tension right on the belt and for setting up the head. I also have run into the Sonic fly bars being too long and having to cut them down to get the blade grips to fit properly. Also I haven't broken the bottom piece of my frame when all my Trex friends have. I love this little helicopter myself.

Just a few things to consider....Are the blades balanced?(the CG of both blades should be are the flybar paddles balanced?, Are the grip screws tight?(the blades should be loose enough to enable the blades to align itself.) Are the dampeners too hard? or the feathering shaft too tight?. In my experience, the HDX head comes with pretty stiff dampeners and this will amplify any imbalance of the rotor blades. Try swapping softer dampeners. Also lastly, check the blade tracking.

Are your bearings assembled the right way in the grips? I accidently reassembled mine wrong once and had a lot of slop, but they still tracked well (go figure). Also, it's really easy to overtighten the grips to the blades. Some report they are too tight. Mine are a perfect fit with the HDX CF blades but the metal grips do bite into the blades, which could affect your lead-lag since they may not find their own balance point if the grips are cranked down. I also use Rex long flybar and rods (all of a few $), the stock ones are junk. I'm not into 3D yet, but mine is very stable in a hover and flies well in FF.

yeah I am having issues with the align woodies, the HDX Fiberglass, and the generic woodies. They all fit way too tight in the blade grips even with out the bolts. I figure if I fly them enough or sand them down they will work, I haven't had too much problems yet and I enjoy flying this thing. I like the set up on the frames and the servos. I have no problems adjusting the belt tension. I just installed a JGF500th motor and had to modify the battery mount. The mount didn't allow enough room for the motor. I put a 13 tooth pinion and so far it is awesome. I have only done some light hoving but plan on wringing it out next fly day.
