View Full Version : Need help with converting Blade CP 4in1 for my JR receiver

Hey all,

I've taken off the receiver portion of my Blade CPs 4in1, connected my new JR receiver using two servo extentions and connected everything just like I'm supposed to (see picture).

But the strangest thing is happening and I can't figure it out! When I give throttle, the tail rotor powers up but no main rotor. When I give it rudder input, the main rotor spins up crazy fast!

I've done what I thought were the obvious things:
- switch the throttle and rudder wires
- switch the wires going from the receiver to the 4in1 (motor/rudder)
- plugged the main motor into the tail rotor plug on the 4in1 and vice versa

No matter what I do, I simply cannot figure it out!

Any help would be greatly appreciated....my next step is to buy a 3in1 and do it that way, but I'd rather not spend the money since others have gotten it to work this way.

I also have an esky HH gyro I want to add but until I can figure this out without it, I'll hold off.

Thanks!
SKarn

Bummer....so noone has any ideas? I guess maybe I'll just bite the bullet and go with complete separates.....get a brushless motor and esc.......

Skarn, I have a Blade CP that I converted to AR6100 and Spektrum DX7. First of all your wiring schematic on your thumbnail appears to match my setup. A few things come to mind. First and you probably already know this....the 3 in 1 is the 4 in 1 with the boards pulled apart and the receiver discarded. I have a 3 in 1 in my Blade CP and a 4 in 1 that I dismantled. On the 3 in 1, E-Flite just soldered a JST connector and wires to the opposite sides of the circuit board from where the connectors for the 4 in 1 receiver are. The top one goes to the throttle on the receiver and the bottom goes to the rudder position on the receiver if you aren't using a separate gyro (reference top of the board is where the gain and proportional pots are). Second thing to note is that if you look at the circuit board from the side where you plug in the main and tail motors the wire colors are reversed from the plugs on the back side where you are plugging in your connectors. ( I couldn't quite decode your wire colors but if they match on both ends signal to signal, - to -, + to + the color won't matter). From the tail/main motor connector side they are left to right: BK RD OR which is negative batt (-), positive batt (+), and signal in that order. The Spektrum receiver on one end of the connector rows should be stenciled with the pinouts: a square wave (signal), +, -. Third, I am not familiar with the JR Transmitter you are using but it almost sounds like there is a channel mismatch between the receiver and transmitter?? Or something programmed wrong in the transmitter?? Converting to the DX7 I had no problems... on the DX7 the receiver and transmitter for the Blade CP profile have to be "bound" (signal locked between the two). On the DX7/6100 the ESCs won't arm unless the binding takes place. So the sequence is: 3 in 1 red flashing, green flashing, receiver light solid (bind), servos activate, about 3 seconds and solid green, ESCs armed. Don't know if any of this helps but I know it can be frustrating trying to make changes to improve the CP. I don't think you will gain anything buying a 3 in 1 unless there is something physically wrong with the one you are using.

Once you get that going, if you want to add a gyro, the main and tail motor leads stay as they are. Unplug the rudder wire from the 3 in 1 that goes to the receiver rudder channel. Plug the gyro module input cable into the rudder connector on the receiver. The gyro module output goes to the rudder connector on the 3 in 1 that was unplugged from the receiver. The signal lead for the gyro goes to an unused channel such as gear. Turn the gain and proportional settings on the 3 in 1 fully left (minimum or off). I am in the process of working out the kinks of adding an Align RCE 500-X to mine. Have been tweaking settings on gyro and radio to hit the "sweet spot" and am getting closer.

Good luck on your conversion, hope you get it all figured out!

Thanks for the info. I do have mine connected exactly like you stated. I tried playing with program mixing last night briefly....mixing throttle with rudder....not good! But it did get main gear spinning lol.

I think I'm just going to go complete separates with brushless motor.

Thanks,
Skarn

I tried this, some one told me that the receiver that comes stock has in it the CCP mixing. The stock radio has no mixing and is just a plain radio. I found this the hard way when I tried to us my older 622 JR. I had the same oddities you are seeing.

Just my 2 cents and not worth much at that :)
