On all the helis, the tailrotor is waaaay to sensitive in rate mode, if one now turn the piro rate down the tailrotor becomes sluggish and slow in HH mode. I have tried everything, from tail stability to tail area to tailrotor speed, nothing appears to work. The relationship between rate and HH mode sucks, not at all realistic, this means that you have to edit the model everytime you switch from rate to HH mode:arggg:

Sounds like a problem with your radio setup. I use a DX6 with Phoenix set up exactly like the model for my TREX 450. D/R switch toggles between rate and HH. Gear channel set at +36 (HH) and -60 (rate). Travel Adjustment on the GEAR channel (to set piro rate) is around 85.

Give us more info and we can fix you up.

Using DX 7 and Ver 1.05e. If I change the the setting in the gyro menu ie to get either HH or rate it makes no differrance. Tried the rudder ATV or gyro ATV and this makes the piro rate sluggish in HH when you have a contro;able tail in rate. If I now increase the ATV till HH mode is perfect then the piro rate in rate mode is waaaaaaaaaaaay to fast and sensitive:arggg:

About to give up and buy something else. Even emailed Phoenix, but to date no reply, ( 2mails a week for the last month) This is really poor service.

OK, not sure this will help but...
Did you calibrate you radio in Phoenix and ensure that the channels for each switch and stick are working as you expect? You should be able to flip the switch that you assigned to toggle between Rate and HH and see one of the red sliders move in the 'Your Controls' screen.
Try setting the ATVs (TRV ADJ) for your rudder channel on the radio to +85%/-85%. This will be a mild piro rate.
Try setting the sensitivity for your gyro channel (gyro gain) to something realistic, too. Say 36% for rate mode and 65% for HH mode. In the radio, assign the gyro mode (0 or 1) to each of the three flight modes.

On my DX6 I was able to get the sim to have a crazy piro rate and waaay too much sensitivity by setting the gyro sensitivity in rate mode anything above 75. I haven't tried the same thing on my DX7 (not using it on the sim at present)

Hope it helps.

I had this same issue, I even made a post about it a day ago. I was able to fix it by calibrating my TX in idle up mode.

Phoenix replied with rhis and 1.05 f is now available!!!!

Further to our previous email, we are intending to improve the functionality when switching between heading-hold and rate gyros in the next update which should be available shortly from our website.

Best Regards
