So I put my Vbar heli on the bench, and for giggles I put on my swash leveller tool. What ya know, its off, and by a fair bit.

So I goto my Servo menu on the Vstabi menu hit servo test and adjust. I went from 11,4,-40 to 4,-2,-37.

So... not a ton but obviously the gears do wear in abit and is something in my opinion to be aware of and check. I know I am going to check this once every 20 flights or so once I get into my flying season.

Interesting.........

I recently had to rebuild my head after a crash, but my servos and servo arms were unaffected. When I was finished I checked the swashplate for level, and couldn't understand how it was now out of level. The main shaft had been replaced, but the swash and servo pushrods had all only been removed, checked, and re-installed.

It wasn't enough to go to the next position on the spline with the servo arm, it just took a bit of sub-trim, but maybe we are all experiencing the same thing.

The good news is, I had been chasing a small vibration, and after the crash it is smooth as glass. I now think I must have bumped the flybar in transport or something like that, giving me a tiny vibration that showed up with the tail boom moving. Simple way to fix it - Crash it :YeaBaby:

Any more updates. How do you like these servos ? are they as good as the specs ?
Are the gears holding up ?

Thx

They are doing fine indeed, I do think that once you get a few flights on them though, jsut check your centers and re adjust if necessary is all.

I noticed that once when checking some things Shawn, but my skills are not up there enough to feel the difference.

BTW: boy is the Logo 10 V-rod some fun with light blades.

Hey I'm more than likley not high enough caliber to notice in flight either, to be honest I am likley over anal about that kind of stuff though is all. I did have a BL251 tr servo fail during a piroflp today on its 8th or so total flight, that was an interesting auto, barely saved the dam thing. :arggg:

On another note, good to see you around Matt, I just flew a Logo 10 today, a friends machine, it was neat to fly the old school again, they do fly well indeed.

Owch on the BLS251:DOH, i just got mine in the post today, the very 1st part for my 1st big heli, is this common with the BLS251 servo ?

So do you guys reckon the 8717's are better than the BLS451's ? trying to decide with cyclic servos to get and keep hearing good & bad things about both.

Thx

No not common on the BL251, and in regards to your other servo selection there is not anything bad per say about the 8717, only things to be aware of is all. The only negative thing really about 8717 is they really dra amps, so make sure your supply is up t osnuff for sure. The BL451s to my knowledge have been fine, what bad things have you heard on these???

Ok cool.
With the BLS451, a guy was telling me he heard of quite a few ppl having failure's on them, don't know how much if any truth is in this or just rumor.

Hey Guys, i need a bit of info.

What size flight packs are you using to run these servos on 8V and how many flights do you get from a pack ? Also how many flights would you get from a pack if u was running 6V servos instead of 8V ?

THx
---------------------
Edit: Sorry for the newbie questions but i'm new to BIG-E Helis.
So if i wanted to run these servos on 8 v how would i do it ?
I'd need say a 2cell lipo ran direct to the receiver and a step down for the tail servo, is this correct ?
Also what about the gyro, would i need a step down for that ? Spartan-Gyro ?
Would i need one of these things http://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=SPMVR5203
?

Thx again.

When I was testing on the bench, Running 8V only draws a little more current then 6V. So I would say you'll get one less fight from your flight pack. I'm running KO 2123 7.4V but using a switching regulator off the main pack so don't have to worry about a second pack.

The Rx, Gyro, cyclic servos can all handle 8V, only the tail needs to be 5V. So just make a "true" 5V step down reg. from the 8V, put it inline between the gyro and tail servo, everything else can run off the 8V (or 2s lipo pack). If you don't want to make one, you can use the Spektrum VR5203 http://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=SPMVR5203 and put it inline between the Rx and Gyro/Tail Servo

Here's the circuit I'm using. The part cost is under $2 + the cable extension. (link fixed, it's the same one you posted)

Thx for that fireup, ill see if i can get the bits.

More Q's about flight packs.
What kind of flight pack capacity & weight should i be looking for ?
Is 1700-1800 ok or should i go to 2200. looking at some 1700mah 103g, 1800mah 93g and 2200mah 118g.

What i dont want is just a few flights and have to charge or change a pack but i have no idea of how many flights i can get out of an xxxmah pack or what weight i should be aiming for..

Didn't want to make a new thread so thought i'd ask here.
Heli will be a logo600. servos 8717 or bls451, 251 on tail.

Thx

I think Bob is running 1800 on his T600N with 8717 and gets about 5-6 flights before recharging (but he's only running 6V).
