I am a new comer to all this heli stuff, I've been flying a Trex 600n Sport with an OS50 Hyper for about 25-30 flights - just hovering and circuits so far. I wonder if anyone knows if there is any routine cleaning or maintenance for the motor that is required to keep things running smoothly? I have this nagging doubt that everything is going too well and that when it eventually comes to grief, as helicopters seem to... someone will say - "I could have told you that would happen".

Any advice?

I usually just clean the heli with some isopropyl alcohol after every day I fly. Also, after about 30-40 flights i'll check the screws on the heli to see if any of them have loosened up. Usually they are fine but it doesn't hurt to check once in a while

I would give the main gear oneway bearing a good check out, some have been known to sieze. If you have a belt driven tail check belt tention. If you used the factory provided fuel line check it well, better yet replace it. Make sure your canope gromets are tight and not ripped, they loose thier holding ability quickly.

Also check the links, they wear more often, I recently took off the tail grips and took off the thrust bearings, I was amaze to find black oil and dirt and there were no grease in the thrust bearings, I had put some in during the build, I have 70 flights on mine now.

The bolts on the engine head gets loose after some time and keep an eye out for where on the throttle stick the clutch engages. There is not much to these, and you will catch anything during the wipe down.

Thanks
