View Full Version : x9303 & 6 chanel Rx: mapping rudder D/R for Gyro

I just upgraded from a JR 8103 to an x9303 in a TRex 450 SE V2 and went with the Spektrum AR6200 Rx. Damn if I didn't spend more than an hour trying to get the 401 Gyro to work on the Gear channel (via the rudder D/R switch). I finally admitted defeat and jumped on to Helifreak to see how folks made this work. I saw several posts whereby the solution is to simply use the gear switch and set the end-point throw. I did that and it worked fine.

However, I figured there had to be a way to map the rudder D/R switch to the gear channel, and I discovered how. Some of you more experienced with the radio probably already know this, but I didn't and searching the forums here didn't give me what I wanted, so here's the info (just in case someone wants it--forgive me if this is a repeat):

1) Hold down the jog wheel button and turn on the Tx
2) Go to the deviceSEL menu item and select it
3) Roll over to the GEAR channel (on the row where the LIST button is) and click
4) select the RUD D/R selection from the pop-up
5) Hit the Ent button
6) Hit the LIST button and scroll to Gyro Sens
7) Enable and set Pos 0 to 50% (as a starting point) and Pos 1 to 0%

Of course you will need to tune the Gyro Sens--50% is just a starting point.

There you have it!

I like this better than using the gear switch (not natural to me after all the hours logged on the 8103--I like having the switches mapped "as they should be" or what I'm used to).

Man! I just got a SE V2 and have been trying to work this out for like two days!
I was kinda pissed at JR for putting the gyro sens on aux2. I thought I might have to go with an AR7000 like my friend. He'll be happy to know about this.
You rock!

Norio,

I assumed others missed something and was sure I could mix channel 7 into 5. After two days I gave up. Glad to see someone figured it out -- it should be able to be done. But now I have a boatload of 7-channel receivers :). Oh well.

Randy,

Can you map the gyro rates using your method to flight modes as we can when using Aux2?

Well,
I thought it would work. It seemed like it would. But, it doesn't, :( at least for me anyway. I did what Randy said but it doesn'tseem that the gyro sense is functioning even with Gear tied to Rudd D/R. I'm still using the AR6100E with the gyro gain plugged into Gear. The fact that I can't switch gain with flight modes is fine for what I'm doing now but I hope there is a solution out there, hopefully from JR. Anyways, I love my T-Rex 450! Rock solid!:Bang Don, thanks for the tip on cutting the 5.1v step down in half and sticking it directly to the servo lead. I really cleans all the wires up.

50 percent will result in the gyro being off, 0 will result in rate mode at 100 percent gain.

Try 75 and 25

Hey Don

Let me see if I understand correctly: you want to use different rates for different flight modes? Idle up 1 and Idle up 2 to be different than normal? I haven't even thought to try anything like that. I don't know if it's possible. It's been a while since I've been in those menus as well...

Most of us dont need multiple gains. Yes its possible depending on the radio and how you set the gain up but its usefullness to general flying is minimal.

Andy,

I've just set up a new 9303 and I have a Futaba 401 Gyro. In the gyro sense menu what are your suggested values? What should position 0 be set to (I assume HH) and what should point 1 be set to (I assume Normal)?

Thanks,
Lou

Start at 75 and 25, that will give you around 50 percent gain in HH and rate.

I'd personally only use rate mode to set the slider to the middle of its throw while the servo is centered.

Then adjust the limit for no binding and assign hh mode to all your flight mode positions.
