i'm wonder if autorotation is possible with this heli size?
in a video on youtube i saw a couple attempts from very high that wasn't as expected....:badair:
anyone done it?
how is it compared to the bigger helis?

It would be almost impossible since you'd lose the tail when power is cut off. At least impossible for me.

i don't think the tail is something to worry about,
i have seen enough un-driven tail helis doing perfect autorotations.
I'm more concerned about size/descent speed/head speed

i think buzz should sacrifice one of his THREE 200's, and give it a shot...lol

Hmmmm....I detect a little sarcasm. Just for the record. Yes I am proud to have three. That being said, I mention it often to make the point that I have multiple helis to use a reference. When someone including myself has an issue it helps to see if its not just that one particular machine.
On another note. I'll lay off the THREE comment so often.
Did I mention I have three?

it's all good buzz. the gaui gang has got to stick together. we can't let the bigger helifreaks push us around. do an auto for all of us. you could be the first to record it!

If there was tail control I would. I'd be happy to do one with my Trex if you'd like? :tongue

i'll give ya a dollar if you do one with the 200...
We auto Hirobo Shuttles with no tail power
You just steer like a plane with aileron and elevator GENTLY!
Tail is not the problem, headspeed decay is the problem
I would not try it with the plastic blades - no inertia
Even the wood blades are not great

i've done lots of autos in a real heli, but not an rc. as a matter of fact, i'm barely past a hover. the cx2 is a breeze, but this little gaui is a whole nuther ball game. the headspeed is what gets me. :bomb:

t-driver, you are my new hero. looks like you really have to come in hot. lots of forward airspeed. on the first try, when you flared up, it looks like it would work, but you'd have to get the timing perfect. doesn't look easy.
buzz, yeah, i have G4. can't find a 200 model though

So why doesn't it work? Poor piloting? Bad power-to-weight -- or perhaps weight to blade length? Other?

or maybe all of the aformentioned

from the looks of the video the first attempt would be better or even perfect if he gave positive cyclic a second later. (i maybe wrong though)
