I have a T-Rex 500 and want to purchase just on battery because I don't have a T-Rex 450 so I don't have any other batteries so I need to purchase a new one so I thaught because of this I will just buy one 6S battery instead of connecting two together.
I live in Montreal, Canada and want to know what battery should I buy. I am new so I don't intend to do any 3D for a long time.
Also What would be the best charger with the balancer in one unit to buy.
Thanks

Thunder Power makes great chargers, and the just released an all-in-one. It can charge and balance up to 6 cells at 10 amps. The Thunder Power TP 610C Charger & Balancer is fairly priced. Just search the sponsored stores on Helifreak.

The Hyperion DUO charger is great, you can balance charge 2 2s-6s packs at the same time.

Thunder Power! The TP610 will set you back about $130. (Cheap) And you don't need to buy a balancer. It you ever want to charge more than 6s, such as 10s in a 600, you'll want to get a different charger. You'll save money in the long run if you pay for quality stuff in the beginning. And, it's a more enjoyable experience. I have 2 TP1010c's and 210v balancers. That'll run ya about $600. (Charger/balancer x 2) I love them!

Hi,

This one looks great :

although I'm waiting on the Kong Power charger because of the 120W instead of the 60W of the TP charger

You might find this summary useful:
Integrated Balance Chargers
===========================
These offer simplicity and convenience with the balancer and charger combined
in the same case. Simpler, more convenient, take up less bench space and
easier to transport.

--------- ------------ -------------- --------- ------------- ----------- --------------------------------------------
Brand Model Chemistry Balancer Output Price (USD) Notes
--------- ------------ -------------- --------- ------------- ----------- --------------------------------------------
FMA Cellpro4S LiXx only 2s-4s 50W/4A $75 Excellent, simple, hugely popular, great value
--------- ------------ -------------- --------- ------------- ----------- --------------------------------------------
Bantam eStation BC6 multi 2s-6s 50W/5A $170 Proven high quality. Integrated ac/dc power supply is great
TP TP610 multi 2s-6s 100W/10A $130 New model from respected TP brand
Maxpro X6 multi 2s-6s 100W/5A $140 New brand, good user comments so far
Bantam BC610 multi 2s-6s 200W/5A $180 Same great charger as the BC6 but 200W/10A (dc input only)
Hyperion EOS0610iNET multi 2s-6s 250W/10A $170 Most bang for buck in terms of features+output power
Hyperion EOS0610iDUO multi 2s-6s x 2 180W/10A each $270 Very handy if you discharge packs in pairs
--------- ------------ -------------- --------- ------------- ----------- --------------------------------------------
Bantam eStation BC8 multi 2s-8s 150W/7A $270 Proven high quality
--------- ------------ -------------- --------- ------------- ----------- --------------------------------------------
Chargery 1010B multi 2s-10s 200W/10A $240 New brand, no user feedback seen so far
--------- ------------ -------------- --------- ------------- ----------- --------------------------------------------
FMA Cellpro10S LiXx only 2s-5s x 2 300W/10A $190 New model with good pedigree but yet to see user feedback
--------- ------------ -------------- --------- ------------- ----------- --------------------------------------------

Non-integrated charger+balancer combos
======================================
This is the older style where the balancer is an add-on accessory to the charger.
Less convenient since it means more boxes, more cables, more things to configure,
store and transport.

--------- -------------- -------------- ------------------ ------------- ----------- --------------------------------------------
Brand Model Chemistry Balancer Output Price (USD) Notes
--------- -------------- -------------- ------------------ ------------- ----------- --------------------------------------------
TP 1010C multi 210V 2s-10s 220W/10A $300 Top performer, hugely popular in US
Hyperion EOS1210i multi 2 x LBA10 2s-12s 180W/10A $240 Good value
Bantam eStation 902 multi 2 x PB6 2s-12s 200W/9.9A $400 Proven high quality
MEGA POWER Infinity 960SR multi 1 x LCB12 2s-12s 180W/10A $200 Good value, great LCD
--------- -------------- -------------- ------------------ ------------- ----------- --------------------------------------------

Notes
=====
1) "multi" means at least: NiCd/NiMH/Pb/LiPo/LiFe
2) "LiXx only" means at least: LiPo/LiFe

IMO the BC6 is the best-of-breed in the 50W class as it is proven high quality, safe, reliable and with its integrated ac/dc power supply is extremely convenient. However, for a T500 a 50W charger is perhaps a little under powered.

The next step up includes the MaxproX6 and TP610. I own the MX6 and can vouch for it being very easy to use and doing a good job. It is good value for money given it includes various accessories (eg temp probe, TP/FP adapter leads, PC interface) that are usually optional extras for other chargers. These require an external DC bench supply. I recommend at least 13.8V/20A for flexibility but you can get by with 12V/15A.

If you want to be able to easily charge two packs at a time then the Hyperion EOS0610iDUO or Cellpro10s are the current stand-out candidates. Both have dual outputs. Mind you the Cellpro10s can do up to 2 x 5s at the same time, not 2 x 6s so take this into account when considering what batteries you want now and maybe later on. Both require a pretty impressive DC bench supply (15V/30A) if you want to run them at the full rated output power so factor that into your budget.

The TP610 cannot charge 6 cells at 10 amps. That would require that the charger be capable of 222 watts. It is an 80 watt charger.

I currently have a Hyperion 1210i charger with external balancers if you don't have to deal with external balancers that would be wonderful and less spaghetti mess, so I ordered an FMA Celpro 10s (built in balancer) as a field charger looks so good I have ordered one, it says 3c charger? expect to see more Lipos in the 3c charge rate in the future.. that equates to about 20 min to charge lipos.

I went with two of the TP 2200 6s packs and the new 610 charger. I found the charger easy to use a so far a good bang for the buck. It appears to have settings for a123's and ni-mh packs too. I wasn't looking for something at will charge at a very high rate, just 2 amps. I never rush to charge my lipos. This was just teh first round, I plan on getting two more bateries and possibly another charger. Happy flying, don't burn the house down.....

I like the polycharger http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKAU0&P=0

4 lipos at once and you can buy the balancers seperate too. It only will charge 4s but I'm using two 3s packs.
