Hey all, thought I'd give this question a shot down here in the RotorWorkz forum since I'm not getting any responses up in AP. Thanks for your help!

so, I'm in the process (finally) of building my AP ship... and have started with a Trex600e. My Rotorworkz HFX fame is on the way and I'm at the point of ordering some servos. I know the frame was designed to use Futaba 9451 cyclic servos, but I'm wondering if there are some less expensive servos that will fit the frame (with the servo braces) that will serve the purpose of flying the ship in a laid back manor until I get more comfortable flying... then I could upgrade to the 9451s (or 9452s) and move the first set of servos to a camera mount. The price of the DS821s is so intriguing, but I worry they won't have enough torque for the direct to swash set up of the HFX frame. I know this has probably been beat to death, but I've never really found a clear answer on what the safe minimum is for this kind of setup when it comes to servos. Thanks.

Stephen

Stephen,

If the servos you chose are similar in size spec as 9451's (metal gear) and can accept an M3 screw (most metal gear full size servos do) you should be ok the Servo studs that screw into the sevo splin are M3 thread

as for torque specs hmmm thats a tough call as the arms on HFX are rather long hince requiring good torque values in your case 3D servo speed isn't what you want so...... you have options of high torque lower speed

thanks... I suspect I'll probably end up with 9452s so I don't have to worry.
