View Full Version : GV-1 and 9CHP. Probably a Dumb Question.

Hi All,
I have just got a 9CHPS and am planning on getting the GV-1. My question is, when I setup the GV-1 should I set the governor to the same switch as I use for Idle Up? I am no sure if this is logical, but to me it seems the right thing to do as you would only want the headspeed to increase in idle up. :?:
Any help/advice, greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Simon.

That's how most of the setups I've seen and used are done. Simple and effective.

You definitely want one switch to completely cut the GV-1 to inhibited. I persoanlly used to run the speed select switch on my idleup switch, but since I am running different curves for I1 and I2 now I use a separate 3 position switch for controlling speeds Switch C.

Example setup is.
Channel 7 assigned to whatever switch you want to control the speeds
Channel 9 as the on-off assigned to whatever switch you want

Simple and works great.

Hi Will, your setup is what one of my friends is running and has resulted in my confusion. With this setup does it mean you are flicking 2 swiches when going to and from idle up. Also being a newb I don't get the advantage of this?
Thanks,
Simon.

Hi Simon,

After I take off and the motor is warmed up, I flip on the on-off switch to on leaving my headspeed switch (C) for instance on my Raptor to 2050 right where it is at the highest RPM setting. I have the stick switch setup on my GV-1 so in normal it will disengage at low stick.

Like this I generally never touch any switch again unless I have a problem, other than the hold switch when I am doing autos. I leave my Governor engaged throughout the flight except when in hold or in Normal and I am below 1/4 stick. Basically I don't need to lower the headspeeds unless it is really windy or other conditions necessitate it.

Hope this clears it up, if you want to discuss in detail, PM and I'll give you my cell number to call.

I see said the blind man.

Thanks a lot Will, I kind of get what you are saying and I see the advantage, correct me if I am wrong but it seems you have greater control over headspeed while heli is in flight?

Once I get the governor I will contact you to discuss further, it sounds confusing, but I am sure once I set it up it will make more sense.
