I didn't want to say anything but I just cannot hold back any longer. What is the deal with the teeny-tiny, itsy-bitsy horizontal fin? I know the 3'ders may want to do something smaller than typical stock but have they taken this too far? It don't look right.

It reminds me of Nemo's little crippled fin. Only smaller. My hurri has not made its debut yet but I am hesitant. Will the chicks laugh at my little fin?

First it was the loss of manliness I felt with going from a full 42" 72 mhz antenna to the tiny little (bent) 2.4 ghz 6 incher. And now this.

Do we have to surrender our helimanliness to live this down?

hahaha, ever heard the saying... "it's not the size that matters"?

It's what you do with it!

SD..

I agree.....looks funny to have such a long boom and a small fin.

I changed mine out with one from a Revo heli....that was only 400 class and it was bigger than the stock....

I read somewhere they don't it interferring with 3D manuevers, but that "Little weenie" doesn't even need to be there being that small...

I figured they were just going for the tall skinny look with the whole heli...

36 - 04 - 36 ?????..........

The Revo fin sounds like a good idea.

The more I look at the stock gaui the more embarassed I am getting. (kidding) And I do not embarass easily. Is anyone getting made fun of at fly-ins? Are they letting us join in their reindeer - I mean heli - games?

The first time a hot babe says "Oh look, a little helicopter with polio", I am going to die.

I thought the same thing and replaced both fins with the Trex 600 Carbon fins. A little heavy but they look much cooler. :D

You could always take the fin off and explain to people when they ask that the type of flying you do is so advanced that the stock fin was not adequate. Or say you took it off to save weight.

I was also not impressed with the 'crippled fin' (great analogy!) so I put the Rex 600 fins on. Since then the vibration on my tail has increased and the Rex stabilizer looks like a bee's wings in flight! There is no obvious adverse reaction to the flight of the Hurri but I would like to eliminate the vibration, any ideas guys?

Are you sure you do not have a problem somewhere? One of my 450 rex's had a high frequency vibration in the hor. fin. I didn't think too much of it but it was definitely there. I happened to be changing a shredded belt recently and as I was twirling the rotor (just playing with it) it seemed the slightest bit off.

Took it apart (again)and the shaft seemed fine by looking, rolling etc. but when put against a straight edge it was bent maybe a thousandths and a half, it that. New shaft - no vibe.

I'll also have to explain that my flying is so advanced that I can't perform it in front of them. It is copyflighted.

thanks Skydude, I will look into other possible causes. It does seem unusual as this heli has only a couple of flights on it. We did discover a small problem with the tail pitch slider last time out but I havent flown it since, hopefully it has gone away.

Guys,

That's a signature of the Gaui 550, and it is "big" in size but "small" in tail. People laughed when they saw it, but when it was away from them, they could point out instantly "that's Gaui 550." I'd like that...cool:)

My wife asked me, "What's with the diminutive fin?" I explained that guys never like to hear the word "diminutive" in reference to themselves or their toys. :)

I guess I'll take 'diminutive' over puny.
