Can you give us an indication about how many weeks it'll take before you can say more about this MA 50 IonX?

Would it be in poor taste if I said "2 weeks"?

does anyone know if this will be a single-pack heli? it would be nice to be able to use the 10S2P's i have already for my 3DMP.

The "plan" is to make it able to mount batteries both on the sides like the Ion or straddled between the gear.

Will nimh work too? I think 32 cells will be about good enough for 50 size heli?

I think with roundcells, you'd want to go to a lower cell count for weight reasons and then choose the motor accordingly. I'd think something in the 20 to 24 cell range would be about right. and maybe one of the higher revving Tangos. But I don't know that yet, just guessing.

Chris
Now a .50 size MA heli would be great! I wanted to get the fury .50 but was told that it was really heavy for a .50 and that it wasn't being supported anymore. A smaller version of the stratus would be cool. I really miss the flight times that I had with my EVO .50.
Since it would be a .50 it wouldn't need such a thick bottom plate and other HD items making it even lighter than some of the fantasic plastic models out now. Any prototype drawings yet?

Chris, with 24 cells it might be better to just get lipo's for the price

Hi Laurens

Actually a 24 cell pack of roundcells, built yourself, would cost something around $100. Lipo would be triple that.

Yeah, there are plans to do a 50 nitro. We do still support the Fury 50. I think we could do a Stratus conversion for it too. We would need to make a different set of bottom plates for the engine, but it could certainly be done....and this would save 12 ounces, just like on the Experts and Extremes. Had'nt thought about that...hmmmm. Thanks

hey Chris
Since I gave you a good idea, how about first dibs on a Stratus 50? :D i would be more than willing to test fly one and give you input on the manual. I would like to see it with an open tail box, lighter beaing blocks, and perhaps a different one way. Something that is lighter and smaller.

I am sure Chris will chime in soon, but when I talked to him a couple weeks ago he said it was coming along very nicely and he had about 20 flights on it so far.

It sounds REALLY cool. I have been begging for some teaser shots. :D
