Ok, I don't mean to take time from the progress on the model, inquiring minds need to know though :)
Are we still on track for an IRCHA rollout? Or is that premature? Are we really looking at like next year for general consumption?
I'm thinking I need to make an upgrade here soon. Ion50 is my 1st choice if it's really going to be around soon, otherwise I'm going to have to find an alternative. :arggg:

maybe protos types at Ircha , is what I gather , still in the designing stages , then my guess , Eric L will test the Hell out of it to see if he can break stuff, R&D

No one knows exactly, that's the reason for the question...

Pete , well while you wait , get you a Ion and get rid of the crappy rappies, if you do , there will be a smile a mile wide , trust me there

I have no real interest in spending more than $500/pack. I like to have multiple packs available, otherwise I would have picked up a Joker long long ago...
550-600 size is where I think the best bang/buck will be at until battery prices start dropping, at which point I will consider something larger. My Raptors fly great, but alas, they are Raptors...
I'm looking at the Roxxter as an alternative right now. (This video makes a big statement: http://www.lf-technik.de/movies/roxx55de.wmv)

yeh , I can understand the dollars on batteries , but once you try it , well you need to try it , are you going to IRCHA ?

Every year for the last 3... Wouldn't miss it...
Not that I can't afford them, I just don't want to, regardless of the way it flies....

well I will let you ring mine out at IRCHA

I agree with you Pete. I am not at the point where I can justify the high cost of all 3+ sets of packs for a bigger machine either.;)
Can't wait to get my paws on a 50! :glasses2:

It's coming guys. Sorry for the delays but we have a lot going on right now. Once we get all this other stuff mopped up, the 50 electric will take priority one.

Hey Chris!
The question was more along the lines of, will we be waiting 3 months or 6+. I have no doubt you guys will build it and make it happen sometime! Are you flying a prototype yet?

Give Sandy at V-East a call about the Roxxter.
It is a great looking heli, but $$$$$. :D
I wonder if you couldn't just shorten the boom and blades on an Ion-X and swap the motor/gearing in the meantime.
I have a Hacker C50-13L waiting for this one. :D

Yeah, talked with him already. Kit is 1000 no motor/esc. Orbit 30-12 and an ESC will set you back another 450, which isn't bad in the big scheme of things. Of course, Cyberheli has the 3DMP for 920 + shipping. I hate to have to get all my parts from overseas with no one in the US stocking anything, and I hate to have to use Volz servos, so the Roxxter has an edge there on 2 spots...
My only long term concern is with spares, whether it's from LFtechnik or Heinselet. Actually, I guess even MinAir has been behind on parts from what I hear, so other than $, not sure it matters...
I think a 13L isn't going to be enough for anything spinning 600's, it's ok for a Logo10. Maybe you meant XL. I'll stick with outrunners, too many headaches with Hackers...

Nope I meant 13L and yes it came out of a boxed Logo 10. :D
We will have to see....
It is all in the gearing available.
I am actually going to put that one into and Extra 300 when I get the time.

is the Ion 50 gonna be nitro 50 modular? like the 3DMP?
misskimo
06-24-2005, 02:12 AM
hey no nitro , just Nuk power , and yes it should be around the same size as the 3DMP ,

The first 50 size will be electric but then there will be a nitro 50. Not sure how much later as we have not even really talked about that one yet. Bob and I did a good bit of work on the E-50 this week, it is moving along.

The next question, Is MA going to be able to be competitive in pricing?
carey shurley
06-26-2005, 12:42 PM
If by "competitive", you mean at the same price as some of the plastic based .50's, the answer is of course no.
However as with most of the MA line, there will be no need to buy carbon upgrades, or aluminum bearing blocks and other common upgrades available for the low price models in order to get a high performance model.

I guess I should have used the term, "Reasonable" pricing.

Being a manufacturer myself I think what you get in a Min Air kit is a remarkable dollar value. There kits are not that much more then other plastic choppers but the quality is much higher. Not knocking the other brands, there ok but Min Air’s stuff is what I would call professional grade and I expect to pay a higher price for this level of equipment. Keep in mind also that a grand ($1000) ain't what it used to be, when I think of what I can do with a $1000 it ain't much.

It will be good value for the $$ Rob. When I talked to Chris about it a few weeks ago, he said they would like to try to offer a couple of different kit configurations to help keep it affordable.
