So two days ago I was in a low hover and pulled the stick back to much and the tail blade touched the ground for a split second. Unfortunately this broke my tail servo. I had been thinking about upgrading the gyro and the tail servo so I went to the hobby shop and picked up a GY401 and S9257.

To use the 9257 you have to shorten the linkage. What I did was I bought the servo mounting brackets from a Trex. Then I measured for a new linkage. I cut the endlink off the side that cant adjust and then I sanded the outer edge of the rod to make it a little smaller so that I could attach a new endlink. I made it so that it was snug and then used epoxy to make it permanent. I think it came out pretty well. I then got the gyro all setup and went to take it for a test flight...

I didnt notice that the tail shaft was bent. :arggg:

Needless to say it didnt fly because of that so Im off to the store tomorrow for a new one. Ill give you guys an update when I get her in the air.

Comments on the setup?

Wow. How have you managed to survive with the stock servos? Or are those dsp75s?

Hi there

Im still on the standard servo's after 2 months flying just about every day!
Only things ive changed are the tail setup for a GY401 + S3154 and now using Trex 325 carbon blades.......its goes great!

I have DSP75's for the cyclic servos. They work OK.

Well I got her in the air today after some troubleshooting. I had to hit the switch to reverse on the gyro. Once I got her in the air it was like sokal says: ROCK SOLID. I would recommend this mod for everyone!
