The Stinking Canopy. Last 4 crashes have absolutely shredded the canopy @ $16 a hit. I've spent more on canopies than parts to get it flying again!
Half tempted to either fly nekkid, or try my hand at modding a trex canopy, or actually using the B-400 canopy as a mold for a new fiberglass home built canopy. (or a mold for a vacuum formed canopy)
I know, I know, stop wrecking and the canopies hold up fine ;-)
I totally agree. If I could find one fault (other than the stock servos/gyro), it would be this! I just had a MAJOR crash, and spent about 40-50 on parts to replace just about everything... and another $20 on top of that for a new canopy (which was literally torn to shreds... I don't think I found all the pieces).
When you're spending $2.99-$4.99 for parts, it's hard to swallow $20 for a new canopy.
I don't really care if it's unpainted.... has anyone found a cheap canopy that fits, that can be modified (new mount holes) to work with the B400?

I've given serious consideration to using the B-400 canopy as a mold to build a Fiberglass version out of, just not certain its worth it yet :-)
I picked up a fake "Carbon fibre" Trex-450 canopy today and figure I'll shoot some paint on it to match my Raptor 60. It should take long for me to find an opportunity to crash test the new canopy!

Do it! :D
I really like the look of the B-400 canopy and wouldn't mind a sturdier one. Though how would you do the translucent window? I am very fond of that feature :p

thought to jimlurch:
from the sounds of it, if you did make a bunch of fiberglass canopies u could sell em, from the sounds of it a lot of B400 owners would like one. i do understand if you dont want to go through the hassle of making that many then shipping them out.

BKF,
Have you changed the servos/gyro and if yes what did you use?
thanks
Went with HS65MG servos for the cyclic, JR3400G for the tail and a Futaba GY401 for the gyro.
THe HS65MG servos required modification to the B400's plastic frame (2 rear upper servos) to fit (probably took about 15-20 minutes with a small medium/coarse file).
They center much better than the stock servos, and seem to be one of the servos of choice for the Trex 450 crowd. I can see why! They survived a terrible crash without a scratch...
After repairing and waiting for the rain to go away, I finally got to take it up to see how it is, and it flew great! In fact, there's little to no vibration at all, and there was when I first got it!
Others may have gotten the stock gyro to work "ok", but as a newbie, I need all the help I can get!
