Big Thumbs up!!! This heli is well built and comes assembled. Add servos, gyro and battery/radio and you are flying! When assembling it, I noticed that the stock painted wood blades seemed a bit flimsy so I was ready with some carbons. Flew the cypher about 8 packs and never bothered to change blades. Not that some carbons wouldn't may be better but these stock tracked perfectly and the heli was a vertical rocket. For equipment, I used Futaba 3154 digital servos on cyclics and a 401/9257 on tail. I couldn't find any bad habits at all. The head is metal, belt driven tail, and canopy and landing gear are tough.
I got this heli from Ron at Ron's heliproz south and I believe it will be up on his site in next day or so. It gets my recommendation. The price is right as well :).

Did the 3154 servos fit perfect or you had to do some mods?

Newbie here, I'm looking at pulling the trigger on one of these. I saw it over the weekend and was real impressed with the quality and the fact it was already put together and HP had parts hanging on the wall. I have a friend telling me to get a CP Blade Pro instead. It wouldn't be my first heli but the last heli I had was 20yrs ago so I have to learn all over again, no biggie Money isn't too big of an issue and thats why I'm looking at this unit. Your thoughts on this as an upper end trainer would be appreciated.

Not to sound stupid but I went ahead and went with a T-rex 450 Se instead. I couldn't pass up the deal the Terry had. So the Cypher is going back to HP.

3154s do fit with no mods.
Here's my review. No Photoshoping except to crop. That's really it flying in 30mph wind.

The more I fly this thing, the more I like it. The tail is very solid. That's my only complaint with the Blade 400. I'm using the Logictech 2100 gyro/3100T servo. It's really light and tiny.

Does anyone know if the RTF weight is lighter than a trex450???

Not off the top of my head, but I can weigh them both tomorrow at work.

Howdy gents,
Mark here -- I want to subscribe to this thread as I just returned home with a arf Cypher 3d. The head is entirely different than the mx450 I am used to so this should be fun. Can some explain the diff in the head from the Cypher and the Rex?

Morning fellas
Hope someone can help me out or point me in the right direction. I got the Cypher all together and in the air. Shes a touchy bird -- needs some expo lol.
Heres my question:
After a 6 min hover -- up and down trimming it out, the motor is kinda too warm for my liking and the esc was smoking hot. I loosened the belt some as it seemed awful tight from the factory. No help. The blades are balenced and tracked also. Anyone know the tooth count of the main gear ? Tail gear? Mod ?( 04 or 05) Stock motor shaft diamenter (2mm I think). I am using the electrifly 11.1 2100 15c battery. This birds looks promising for out back banging so I hope I can figure out the heating problem.
Thanks greatly for any info or help given out,
Markus

That's odd, ours was barely warm after several minutes in the air.

Yeah I thought so too -- I am drawing a blank what else to look at here. Got an email out to HP -- see what they say. Thank you,

I would love to know how to get the Cypher to balance. I am very nose heavy with Kong or Air Thunder 2200 packs.

Sorry I'm not having the balance issues. My esc and gyro are in the back and I am using Electrifly 11.1 2100mah batteries. Funny their even slightly heavier because they have the stay balance circutry in them :0)
2 ways around that I see atm---
Adjust trim so it washes most of it out -- too much and its bad :0) , or add weight and see how much it requires, again too much isn't good :0)

I have been looking at the Blade 400 and have not bought it yet because I am still practicing with an axe cp. I noticed a small comparison in the blade vs. the cypher, and I like that your kit comes with an RDS8000. Is the Cypher a better choice than the blade? Why?

Hey another Axe cp guy lol me too.
I ended up getting the cypher because holding the two in my hands -- the cypher felt much more rigid and sturdy compared to the B400.

If I were to choose between the two, I would pick the Cypher. The Blade is a great little machine for the price, but the Cypher is a lot more sturdy, and seems to be of better breeding design wise.

Well at this point I would recomend the Blade.
The Cypher is not even off the bench and there are several issues
As stated below the balance is way out, up front a 2200mah, ESC as per instructions, adding weight to the tail is not the answer but may be the only option.
As for the ESC, it's a brick, traded it out for a 35 Aling may help the balance a bit.
The battery on the RDS has lasted 40 minutes after on the charger all night. Not enough to go through a set-up on a single charge.
So what about the lengths of the servo control rods, some guide from the manfacturer as to the design length would be nice, and just set the rear servo rod as long as you dare (because inorder to adjust that length you must remove the anti-rotation bracket) then level the swash to that point buy using the front servo rods. So one suggest to dial out the nose heavyness with an unlevel swash or constant trim, what about the effects when you not right side up?
It now seems that at the present set-up I am gettng 2 deg of positive pitch, this should be interesting but the battery on the TX is dead again so the other half of the set-up will have to wait for tomorrow, at this rate should be flying next month.
Blade was out of the box flying, true a day to trim things out and get them level etc but you could keep working because the TX did not die every 40 min. Buy the Blade.

The battery on the RDS has lasted 40 minutes after on the charger all night. Not enough to go through a set-up on a single charge.
That is not typical. My RDS8000 is used on a simulator for a hour or so at a time, then flying all day on a single charge. The CG may be an issue to address, one local guy used lead weights on the tail, or you could try using an EVO Lite pack, and/or move the tail servo back a little on the boom(or even use a bigger servo), Ron's seem to fly nicely in a normal configuration, and the other local that has one says it rolls almost too fast. Ron is going to be measuring the rods, so we should be able to get that info on the site too.
