Well I thought I'd put a thread here about my adventures with my Aspera. I'm not appreciated a whole lot over on rcgroups since I'm running a 5s3700 (Lepton batteries :-) ) in my Aspera for long flight times. I'm using an Airboss 45 ESC and a Torque 2814-605kv motor. On the 11x5.5 APC E prop I'm getting about 18min which is nice but I really want a prop that has the capability for more thrust should I need it.

My fav prop so far is a XOAR 12x5 but I broke it on my last flight. I've been looking at the Master Airscrew K series 12x5 but I'm not sure if I can use it as A: my shaft is 6mm and B: it's definately not a 4stroke.

If you guys can help me I'd really appreciate it since the guys on rcgroups just don't seem to get it.

looking at the APC E-props, to get more thrust you may want to try 13x4, 13x4.7 if you can find them. I've used the 12x4.7 props for awhile and the lower pitch will give you more acceleration and thrust while decreasing your top end speed.
Debbie's should have an assortment.

Went by Debbies and picked up a pair of APC 12x6 props and some big 2-3/4" wheels. They really raise up the nose. Dunno if you remember but we actually met at Debbies once. I didn't really know who you were at the time though.

12x4.7.. If it's a plastic eprop I'd like to give it a whirrl. Where can I get one?

Glad to hear the first flights went well. Sorry to hear things aren't going well over on RC Groups. Generally, Ben and the 3D Hobby Shop group are great to work with.

PS: I'm using 5s3700 batteries in my 3D Hobby Shop 55" 300 SHP and am running a Xoar 15 x 7 prop. Different motor of course, but it shows what these batteries are capable of.

I would have thought Debbies would have them, however you can get them from www.atlantahobby.com
APC is a fiber-plastic. pretty good props...

they don't list a 12x4.7.. but they do have the xoar props as well as others.
rule of thumb, trade an inch of diameter for an inch of pitch; 11x7 would pull similar to 12x6, etc. More diameter, lower pitch = more grunt.

It's frustrating as it seems the props I really want do not exist. I suspect a 12x5.5 would be perfect but alas no one makes one. I still look forward to giving the 12x6 a whirrl this weekend. As I said in the other thread, I suspect it's just a matter of time before I get one of Ben's 55" 3D birds as well.
