For those with the DS760 are you using the metal plate for mounting this gyro. The thread over in the tech forum has it being done with and without. The manual says the steel plate may not be necessary for a small electric heli. That's pretty vague.

Thanks.

I mounted mine with the metal plate but only because I didn't want to damage the case if I ever needed to pry it off the mounting point on the helicopter and the thicker tape fits better under the plate instead of under the gyro itself. Also mine needed a bit more weight in the tail.

Heres how it looks.

Thanks. I saw that picture in the build thread you did. Also some good information about the setup. There's also a picture that shows the cable butted up against the frame. The DS760 manual says not to secure the cable for at least 2". It sounds like you're not having any problems with this, though.

I have one on my Trex600 and will be installing one in my Logo500. On my 600 I decided to try it without the plate and it works great. I did quite a bit of searching and if you have a smooth running heli you should not need it, but it doesn't hurt to run it. Interesting note is that Bert Kammera runs just foam on the 450 and 600 but says found it necessary on the 500.

So long as i'm not fighting tail heaviness like I was on my 600 i'll probably mount the plate on the Logo.

I think one of the issues with the statement about not securing the cable is because its a ribbon style and its best to not crunch it. The mounting I did was with a tie wrap that loosely hung around the cable on a mounted sticky plate against the back bulkhead just to keep it from flopping around. You can see here that its not compressed.

I would advise using the plate for one reason. It raises the gyro a little more off the frame and makes it alot easier to insert the flash cable as the frames have a moulded lip which can make it difficult to get access to the socket on the gyro.
