Okay, guys, my new Gaui 200 arrived today, and I gotta tell ya, I was prepared for small, but this is SMALL. It's a little jewel. It's beautiful! I phoned a friend to come over, and he and I spent a solid hour just looking at it and oohing and aahing and wiping off the drool. An hour! Just looking! Did I mention that it's small? Heck, I didn't even see the motor at first. I ordered the lighter canopy, too.

I have my work cut out for me, because I've NEVER assembled a heli before, and the instructions don't give you much to go by. For example, I don't know for sure how every linkage is supposed to work. I'd say one link in the head is binding slightly, but I'm not sure, and I don't know how it's supposed to be.

I've ordered a DX7 that comes with an AR6100 receiver and DSP60 servos, so that's what I'll be using. The girl who took my order said they wouldn't fit, but you guys said they fit fine, so I went with your advice. And I'm planning to use a Logictech 2100 gyro and 3100G tail servo combo. But right now all of that is moot. I first have to understand this thing.

Before I turn a screw the first thing I need is a correctly sized tool set. What are you guys using? This is the set from Wiha that I'm thinking about: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGDR0&P=ML. How about pitch gauges? Calipers? Scales? Any advice here?

I'll have a lot more questions in the coming weeks. Any general advice to get me started?

Watch the Finless videos. They'll help tons.

The DSP60's fit just fine. I have them in one.

Just about everything you turn as far as screws until you make repairs is phillips.

Be patient, Use locktite.

The tools your looking at may be a problem because of the head size. Because of the quick change chuck size, you won't be able to get in some tight places. I've got a mixed bag of various tools so I dont really know of a "set".

Calipers, scales are optional but, since your a Helifreak I'll say you'll have them soon. They certainly can provide great information.

If this is your first Heli, the get a sim ASAP and training gear. Don't get discouraged. The dividends for patience will pay off 1000 fold.

Build, crash, repair. Repeat as needed. If product makes contact with the eyes call a doctor immediatly.

Tell your buddy to get on the freak and get his own Gaui 200!!

Most important of all, stay on the Freak. You'll find more quality help, friends and advice here than any other site on the web IMO. My help and advice must be taken with a grain of salt but, if I can help don't hesitate to ask. My yahoo IM is paul_bryant49090 if you get in a pinch. I've done one kit, adjusted a used one I bought and built one from parts so I know a little something about the 200.

Paul, thanks for the encouragement. I should add that it's not my first heli -- I have a Blade CX2 that I can land on a CD case across the room in any orientation -- but it is my first single-rotor heli and the first one I'll be building. I've downloaded all the Finless videos, so I have some viewing to do. I'll be here. This is a terrific community.

Oh yes totally different no comparison like a dingy in the sea and a Ocean liner. The CX being the Ocean Li:lol:ner.

Tools Phillips is the main man, The align one I have that you can change the heads(puirple body thing ) isn't that good the phillips head is a tad large. A hex spanner 4.0H only really for the blades as your probably be changing a few of them ( I have )
A .9mm hex alien key fly bar!
Long nose pliers

Think that is all I have used

The socket set might be a tad wide in the shaft to get into all those places. Putting my tail servo one was a mare!
