I wanted to start a discussion on what it would take to make a Logo 6003D into a Logo 5003D. I was thinking about doing this as I can't afford another heli for a while and really want to try a Logo 5003D. What do you guys think? Maybe it's better to find someone that wants to trade?

My setup:
NEU 1912H/1Y
Jazz 55
Western Robotics BEC
9252 cyclic
9254 tail
401
AR7000
10s 3700

Bades, canopy, belt, and hack saw. Keep the 25mm boom.

How long is the shaft on the 1912? If it is setup for the counterbearing I have a 1910 I'd trade.

Just curious why you want to basically downgrade? I'm building a Logo500 right now and would possibly entertain a trade for a 600.

Two reasons.... longer flight time and less likely to wipe out a Lipo in a crash because the 6s packs don't stick out near as fare. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with what I have just kicking around ideas on a low budget. Maybe I should look into getting a Logo 400 or simular.

There's no doubt that the lipos on the 500 are much less $$$ painful than the 600 but I'm not sure they're safer in a crash. You'd need basically new head from the washout block up as the flybar, spindle, grips are different. I think you could keep the boom/tail/belt assembly the same although it would look a bit stretched :)

Obviously need new motor as well - a swap would be good as RJohn suggests - maybe Bob would swap his new 500 for your 600 !!

The boom and tail will work you will need a belt. I just switched my 5003D boom and tail to a 6003D.

By the way I cut the boom

What was wrong with the 5003D tail and boom?

Nothing I wanted a spair boom and tail to have a quick fix at the feild.

there is no doubting it, the 600 does fly better than the 500, i think you might regret downsizing!

Hey Boogie, what landing gear are those? They don't look like the stockers.

This thread actually brings up some things i've been meaning to ask. Why has Mikado decided to use different tail designs on both the 500 and 600? Also, while looking through the PDF of the manual I see the mounting position of the landing gear is different for the 500 and 600?

So one couldnt put longer boom, belt and blades to fly a 500 as a 600. Of course motor and such would be changed.

I guess it's economy of engineering to be able to use the main frames for both - shortening the tail compacts the heli and to keep it in proportion it looks better to have the front landing gear brought aft.

Yes - and main blade grips, flybar, flybar ball joints, paddles, landing skids - the geometry of the mixing arms is also subtley different though the same parts are used

UC is moved forwards on the 600 because of the canopy, the 500 canopy wont fit with 10s long packs as its too short, so the L600 is longer, but has the mounts further apart, if ya get what i mean

Not sure about the skids I had them in my parts box for a while. I think they are frome ether a old Trex 600e or 600N. They are heavy so I will be changing them as soon as I some stock skids in.
As for the landing gear mounting position I would think its to make everything look to scale. Not sure though just a guess

Eyons statement sounds like a better possibility as to Y they have different landing gear mounting position LOL Thanks Eyon

No problem!

Trust me, ive tried fitting a L500 canopy to the L600 and visa versa, doesnt work!

Chicken and egg - which came first the gear or the canopy ;)

Flight Power makes an 5350 8S long that fits nicely under the 500 canopy, I have been flying them since last year.

the 5350 is a very short cell, so is the 4900, but the 4350 is a much longer cell, but thiner

I want longer flight time. What do guys suggest to give me about 2-3 more minutes of Sport/Mild 3D?

Different motor.....maybe a tango 45-07?
10s Evolite 5350?
580mm blades?
