mice on main
a unique way to explore downtown greenville
This was a school project idea by a local high school student who wanted to do something good for the community so that people would feel they are in a special place that has character and individuality.
Based on the popular children’s book Goodnight Moon, a bronzed sculpture of the book and one mouse are mounted on the fountain in front of the Hyatt Regency hotel and the other eight mice are installed along a nine-block stretch of Main Street between the Hyatt & the Westin Poinsett hotels. The artist who created the work is Zan Wells.
Falls Park
About Falls Park
The $4.5 million Liberty Bridge does more than span the Reedy River -- it serves as the focal point of Falls Park , showcasing man’s creativity alongside nature’s beauty. The bridge is 355-feet long, 12-feet wide, has a horizontal curve radius of 214-feet and 90-foot towers weighing 26 tons each.
The unique design, created by architect Miguel Rosales of Boston , will provide spectacular views of Reedy River Falls.
The bridge's suspension towers stand lean downstream at a 15-degree angle. Subtle lighting in the bridge's handrails and from underneath gives it a glowing effect. Visitors truly will feel as if they are floating over the park.
In addition to the Reedy River Falls, the bridge is the perfect place to view the magnificent public gardens below.
Falls Park Hours
The park is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., daily. There is no admission fee for daily use.
The Greenville Zoo
The Zoo is open seven days a week (Except on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's days).
Hours of admission are from 10AM - 4:30PM. Gates close at 5:00PM.
Fees are $5.00 for adults and $2.50 for children ages 3 – 15. Under age 3 is free.
Enjoy your visit. The Greenville Zoo is located on a 14-acre site within Cleveland Park. A typical visit would last from an hour to an hour and 15 minutes. Adjacent to the zoo are two playgrounds for youngsters and several picnic facilities. Numerous other picnic tables are located throughout the area and the park. The park also has extensive bike and walking paths, tennis courts, volleyball pods, and some smaller play areas. There are two large shelters near the Zoo that can be reserved. For fees and availability contact the Zoo office at 467-4300. In addition, there are a number of smaller shelters in other parts of the park that can be reserved. For fees and availability call 467-4355.
